I really don't understand why this president doesn't understand that regardless of who in his administration messes up, or fumbles the ball; the BUCK stops at his desk!

I, for one, do not sense sincerity or responsibility coming from this man for the mistakes others have made under his name!

It was a fellow Democrat who made this saying popular [Harry S. Truman], and I would think that instead of trying to find a way out of the mess he's made of his administration's running of the country when it comes to the debacle of Obamacare; Obama needs to step up and really, truly say who it was that had the final responsibility in this, and it was definitely Mr. Obama! :wavey:

I am shocked, shocked that anyone thinks that Obama had anything to do with Obamacare. Undoubtedly, Obama is the greatest Democrat President ever, and Nancy Pelosi reminded us that she had never heard anyone say that they liked the health insurance policy that they had. Remember these polices are sub-standard. For additional information, check with the greatest American propagandist ever, Jay Carney. I am shocked, shocked....

There is so much to say here. Truman was probably the last solid Democrat we had as President. I liked some of Kennedy's policies (he governed to the right of every Republican from Bush 1 on), but after him, LBJ, Carter, Clinton, and now Obama. Each one that came into office I thought we would never have anyone worse. The question looms now, is it possible for the American people to elect anyone worse than Obama?

My Dad told me that Truman was the only Democrat he ever voted for. I agree with your premise. There has been an ever decreasing quality of "the buck stops here" with each new President. However, this needs to be added. What does this say about us? The American people (through the electoral college) elected Truman, then sixty years later, elected Obama. To me that says as a people, we are on a slippery downhill slope just like our Presidents. Are not they a reflection of us?

Not to neglect the other side, Reagan was the best Republican President in my lifetime. They have followed the gradual decay since then with Bush, Bush, McCain, and Romney. However, they have not reached the ocean bottom level of the Democrats. Their low point had to be Nixon, and Reagan actually uplifted that greatly.

One last question, Pastor Paul, since you are quite a bit older than me, who did you vote for in the 1948 election?

If you are shocked, send me a PM, and I will be glad to sell my Kentucky mansion to you for four easy payments of $300,000. If you contact me within the next ten minutes, I will throw in an outbuilding, ten parakeets, a cat, and a Maltese. Wait, there is more. You get the half acre lot the house is sitting on.

Because the coiner of this phrase, the nation's 33rd president, Harry S. Truman, was an honest man who knew ultimate responsibility lies with the man in charge. After he ordered the bombing of the Japanese with the two atomic weapons we had, and Japan surrendered, he went on radio made an announcement that last less than 30 seconds:

The Great Pretender hasn't a clue what decisiveness, honor, truthfulness, and responsibility. He isn't fit to handle Truman's underwear.

The fact is that President Truman not only puts the rest of the Democrats in office to shame since then, (Kennedy comes closest to his ideals), but puts most Republicans to shame. Think about a debate between Truman and Nixon, Ford, Bush 1 and 2, Dole, McCain, and Romney. Ronald Reagan is the only one who could have possibly won that debate.

I can clearly remember thinking that no President in US history would be worse than LBJ. Then came along Carter, same thoughts, then Clinton. Obama's one contribution to others is to raise the historical record of past Presidents.

The question is worth repeating, is it possible to elect a President worse than Obama, to whether one day we are pondering, was Obama so bad? At some point, the system will collapse.

I should think that FDR would go down in history as a very bad President. I think that Obama is much better than FDR.

    Funny!

I was still years from being able to vote, although I'd have to say if I could have voted, it would have been for the Gerbers pudding my mom was feeding me at the time. As for strained carrots, I'd have voted them out! :wavey:
