when the use of the word heretic in reference to someone who is influencing thousands by "new revelation" from God is BANNED, then I shall be the first to leave this board and never return.

I say again, Don Piper is a heretic.

But then I think that yur making too big a deal of it. Who here accually thinks the man went to heavn and came back to talk about it?

The point isn't who believes he is telling the truth, or is just delusional. The point is the way you are talking about him. Have you read the book? Do you know anything about him besides what is in the book?

There are a lot of Christians that are mistaken on a lot of things (you are one too, as I'm sure I am), but how we treat each other reveals a lot. I'll say again, I'd suggest you are being more divisive than Don Piper on this board. I'd even guess most here don't think he went to heaven.

Um...what you saw was a quote, direct quote at that (guess who)
Neither did I. You must have a serious reading problem
...which you have not shown to be the case.
Resort to the ole' ad hominem. Nice.
Allow me to quote, yet again, someone you know quite well...

It's a testimony, not "new revelation".

So has anyone actually read the book?

I only read a very small portion. I just read a few pages while in a bookstore.

I did. There was a thread a few months back. If I can find it, I'll post the link.

I'm not particularly interested in what Don Piper has to say, but I can't let this statement slip by without listing some scripture:

    Romans 1:18-20
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

Do you have a scriptural basis for this assertion, or are you simply misusing 1 Corinthians 13:8-10 like most people who hold this position?

If BB posters want to discuss the merits or lack thereof of the book in a new thread there is no problem at all. However, the discussion ought to be handled in a Christ-like manner and abide by the BB Posting Rules at all times. You all, whether you support the author/book or not, need to pay particular attention to the requirements of BB posting rules 3 and 4. Otherwise, you may find that your fingers/keyboards have typed you into an all expense paid 10-day vacation from the BB.:tonofbricks:

    Clarification on Don Piper's Devotional

When I first saw the Devotional at Wal-Mart, it struck me as odd---What is the purpose of a 90 Minutes to Heaven devotional?

Maybe it was the publishers who called the shot on this one--but a devotional? C'mon!

Are you a professor? It seems like your responses are in the forms of lectures, often bringing up things never talked about. I never said anything about heaven, or what I think it is like, or what the Bible says about it.

What I did bring up, however, is that Christians should be a little more cautious on their verbal attacks on people. Especially people that they know very little about. Again, for face value, I don't believe the guy. Yet, I don't know much about him. Save your "heretic" label for someone you know a little more about.
