I don't know who presented what but expository preaching is not what you think it is by any stretch of the imagination. There is not a conservative seminary that teaches such an idea. Expository preaching is always relevant as it is a message decided by God's word, the outline comes from God's word and the single main point is directly from God's word and avoids the trap of preaching to "felt needs".

You separated my statement go back and read it.

Then there is no need to insist on them.

I am sure you will think about it.

Mmmm, nope, I sure would not. You should not go around telling people what they would or would not do in a situation, you are assuming and we all know what that is about.

Has ever a rational mind been accosted by a more incoherent ganglion of unrelated concepts?

Where does one start with a mess like this?

Oh, and I imagine all the sour faces in the congregation will feel out of place in Heaven where it will be a celebration FULL of fun!... Ooops... Worship and fun can't coexist... so pardon me while I go meditate miserably...

    OOOOOOOOOM OOOOOOOOOM

Buy some donuts, man. (Then send me a dozen)

It's not that Baptists don't dance, it's that they can't dance. This is due to the fact that they continually forget to lay hands on the Krispy Kreme doughnuts to cast the calories out.

Somehow my Krispy Kremes only cast the calories IN!

Getting them out requires a few hours on the treadmill.

Why do they always compare God to the President? I didn't know the two were equals. By the way, the Today Show interviewed Captain Richard Phillips & his wife today. They showed a picture of the two meeting with the President at the White House. The Captain was not wearing a suit or tie and his wife was wearing pants. :tongue3:

    Hello webdog

Yes, our Church is traditional in practice, and yes we do have vacation bible school.
But our worship services are very “culturally relevant”, because they are Biblically based.
You don’t have to play rock & roll, to be “culturally relevant”, because the Bible is God’s Word, and it will always be relevant.

You also brought up the subject of “our very own standards”:
    We don’t have any!
(At least not any of the ones, that you are talking about.)
    --------------------------------------------------
I was once talking to a visiting missionary(many years ago), and I asked him, how he defined “legalism”?
He answered, “A legalist is someone who has more standards than I do.”

I was very disappointed with his answer, because it demonstrated his own legalism.
Because he was talking about “man’s standards”.
    --------------------------------------------------
So, the answer to your question, for me; Is that we don’t have any problems with VBS activities, as long as the Lord and His Word, is at the center of them.

Every song does not always half to be a hymn, nor is there anything wrong with games or snacks.

Not exactly true - when I went to meet the president of Ireland I dressed just like I do to preach - and that did not include a coat and tie. We had a nice chat, she is a lovely woman.

I wonder how many sermons Jesus preached would be classified as expository preaching?
