Check out Dr. Price's website at: http://www.jamesdprice.com/. Dr. Price, prof of Hebrew, etc., at Temple Baptist Seminary for many years and now retired, has a website with many articles by him about translation, textual criticism, etc. He is a top scholar and a wonderful Christian man, and was an editor on both the NKJV and HCSB. Of particular interest is a PDF file of his simplified version of his optimal equivalence translation theory with the title Complete Equivalence in Bible Translation (a title supplied by the publishers rather than "optimal equivalence"), which came out in 1987. You will have to print this out to read it, since it is in a graphics format PDF rather than a text format, but it will be well worth the effort. Also, the site gives information about his latest book, a scholarly tome on translating from the Hebrew using optimal equivalence: A Theory of Bible Translation: An Optimal Equivalence Model. I was privileged to see the first few chapters of this book before publication, and I highly recommend it--but you have to be able to read Hebrew and have $119 lying around.
