As the home to the largest Haitian population outside of Port Au Prince, we are probably seeing more coverage of the devastation than most of you. From what I've seen, it reminds me of the Nicaraguan earthquake in the 1970's. I do hope that your denomination or your local church is participating in some type of relief efforts. If so, it would be good to hear what you all are doing. We have three projects. First, we are working with a sister Haitian church in providing needed funds. Personally, I feel a lot better donating to a known Christian ministry than to Unicef or other similar organizations. Secondly, we are working in providing needed bottled water. Lastly, we have a missions trip to Haiti planned for this summer and it now takes on added importance. If your church is not participating in any effort, but you would like too, feel free to pm me and I can provide information on how you can help in our efforts. Thank you.
