As the home to the largest Haitian population outside of Port Au Prince, we are probably seeing more coverage of the devastation than most of you. From what I've seen, it reminds me of the Nicaraguan earthquake in the 1970's. I do hope that your denomination or your local church is participating in some type of relief efforts. If so, it would be good to hear what you all are doing.

We have three projects. First, we are working with a sister Haitian church in providing needed funds. Personally, I feel a lot better donating to a known Christian ministry than to Unicef or other similar organizations. Secondly, we are working in providing needed bottled water. Lastly, we have a missions trip to Haiti planned for this summer and it now takes on added importance.

If your church is not participating in any effort, but you would like too, feel free to pm me and I can provide information on how you can help in our efforts. Thank you.

Thanks, mate. Canada has a special interest in Haiti and provides special-needs people and regular funding. It made 2 million immediately available and is encouraging all Canadians to donate.

The largest mission groups in Haiti are Baptists and Salvation Army.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Our high school just closed the door on it FOURTH container for Haiti! One thousand cases of canned foods, 200 cases of evaporated milk, 3,500 individual gallons of water, and over 6,000 cases of bottled water have been donated by the Westminster community and its partners.

As some of you may know, our Governor General is Haitian. Hence a very special interest in what happens there.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church in Seattle and James McDonald of Harvest Bible Chapel in Chicago have come together to form Churches Helping Churches. They formed it last week and flew down to Haiti at the end of last week to see what needs to be done. You can see more at www.churcheshelpingchurches.org
