I was wondering, we, rich countries, must reduce our pollution impact on God's earth. What are we doing, how should we do ?

Last year, i realized, once the gasoil rose 1.42 €/ liter (not gallon), i suddenly drove slower, consuming less, and kept the habit. It cost at some time, but drove me in a better way for economic tides.

Now we're back to 'round 1 € per liter, i fear they definitively forgot all the promises and intentions about electrical cars and ways of transport. I guess oil lobbies like Total here are doing their job, and emirates helping them as much as they can.

Of course, if tomorrow the oil fell to 0.30 € per liter, who would care about how big your car pollutes and consumes ? We would be back on the big 4x4, pickups & Hummer way ....

So i think the taxation and the education are tied in an ecological aim for planet earth, in our responsibility in front of God.

What do you think ? Do you have any ideas ?

I left work a few weeks ago, and there was some king of grey fog round, and the speed limit was 20 km down, but nobody cared, even if they knew it was because of Ozone pollution (and those having breath problems suffer). Once again, if cops would have been told to put a 200 € fine to anyone caught driving faster than the Ozone limit, i'm sure most would have been respecting it ... money.

We should be good stewards, but 65.00 bucks a head for cow gas seems a little far out in left field to me :tonofbricks: Not only do they want to get us into bus/transit but they want us to be vegitarians as well.

So Christians take ideologies that are created by those who worship the earth rather than God and tack God on to the end of it.

That might be your interpretation but that is not what I said at all, at least I don't think I did, did I really say that, if I did say that it is certainly not what I meant, but if I did say that thanks for the heads up, though I don't really think I really said that, did I say ...... NOPE don't think so.

If a Mac truck is headed for you is it not good stewardship to move thine self outa da way? If ya got radon in the cellar, think ya shld blow it out b for it gets in yer brain and you become a liberal?

I don't see where taxed pollution is any less harmful than the free stuff.

    Great answer

I believe all people want a clean environment. That said, these policies are really directed at the United States and are aimed at bringing us down financially.

Don't be paranoid, i think we ALL have to make some effort !

Some people are eating together, and they all eat too much, they're not far from a heart attack. Doctor says " you have to eat less or you'll die ". USA and Europe eat very much compared to other, so the effort will be more important for them than for Australia in terms of quantity of food.

That's a simple picture, but i think USA, Europe, and mostly China & India (those are much involved in pollution in many ways, using dangerous products in many ways like mercure etc ....) have to make efforts.

Our factories are modern and i guess on the good way, we recycle more and more things, don't you agree ?

(I mean " we ", the western occidental countries including USA. I try to be more precise now, since people might think " You European consider yourselves better than us USA". That's not the meaning.)

I am all for reducing pollution. However, CO2 is not a pollutant, regardless of what the government says. We breathe out CO2 and plants breathe it in. Plants then emit O2 and we breathe it in. Then we breathe out CO2...

Climate happens. Passing all the draconian legislation in the world won't stop changes in climate over time.

So there are a lot of 4X4, pickups and Hummers in France?

    Something sounds odd.

Here's a Duck Truck with firebreathing 425cc two cylinder motor and a flatbed for hauling other things harmful to the environment. The real menace was the 4x4 Sahara model with TWO motors!

    Hehe. :)

However, I have never posted anything in favor of this climate change legislation nonsense.

God created the universe. Man was to be the caretaker.

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

I don't call this "tacking God onto the end of a pagan belief." Literally for God's sake, how many lies can you tell to support your Satanic politics?

Thank you Ken. It's a relief to see one person gets it...read slowly...CO2 is NOT pollutiion...it is essential to life.

I watched an interview on PBS news hour with a UN Climate change official. Here is a letter I wrote them...you have to know the book "1984" to get it:

I was struck by Warner's facility with the Newspeak in this interview: 'emissions,' 'polluting nations,' 'pollution,' 'climate change...'

No one would have a clue that the whole interview was really about the issue of carbon dioxide and global warming. Minitrue has trained her well.

But she really went over the top with this statement: "this huge team of scientists from all over the globe issued these unanimous warnings about the really extreme danger to the planet."

"Unamimous warnings"--suburb. No one who watches the Newshour would have a clue otherwise. Big Brother Jim's news blackout of all contrary voices remains unsurpassed.

Why, no one would even know about Charlie Rose's interview with Freeman Dyson--that disappeared from the webpage almost immediately. And Michael Crichton died ten months ago so he's no problem now. And we can expect Minilove to take care of those thoughtcrime scientists, some of whom actually served on the IPCC, like Richard Lindzen, Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or John Christy, distinguished professor of atmospheric science, and director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama in Huntsville [a lead author on the IPCC report], or William Gray, Emeritus Professor of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University, etc. etc.

This may sound good on the surface, but it may not hold water in the long run. For instance, we breath oxygen so you could assume that oxygen is not harmful. But, breathing 100% oxygen is harmful and can even be fatal.

Here's the rub. Carbon offsets, taxes or fines do absolutely nothing to reduce pollutants.

San Fransisco International Airport recently installed three kiosks where travelers could swipe their credit card and purchase certified carbon offsets. Take a few minutes and read the article from the SF Chronicle.

I've done a lot with a credit card. I've made my wife happy (for a while), repaired the car and took a trip to Kentucky. But I never reduced the emissions of an aircraft or automobile. Neither does swiping your credit card at a kiosk. Nothing changes at the source of the emission.

$7.62 out of the pocket of a traveler and THE AIRCRAFT WILL STILL PRODUCE 1186 POUNDS OF CARBON DIOXIDE! How, exactly, does that constitute reducing emissions and greenhouse gases?
