    Martin Response

    Hello Martin,

How goes it? You only mean a program should be NCATE accredited "IF" the person goes to the secular university? Right?

    Just a point of clarification.

You can get an NCATE-accredited EdD through a Christian university.

It is true, however, that the NCATE accreditation is really only a factor for those intending to use the EdD in a school environment that requires licensure.

Programs in Christian Education (not Education in a Christian context) are not in the purview of NCATE.

Education courses in general are not difficult (though usually boring). I managed to get certified to teach, and eventually became a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT), without having an education degree, through the Troops To Teachers program. I have two masters, an M.S.I.R. (International Relations--30 hours), and an M.A.R. (Liberty Seminary--48 hours). I am certified to teach Math and Social Studies, but my NBCT is in Social Studies.

If I ever go for another degree, it will probably be a D.Min.
