    Fear of the Truth?

    Fear of a righteous God?

Yep - I fear God enough to let His Word be His Word - evil is evil and is open rebellion against a Holy and mighty God. Homosexuality is evil.

Anyone that supports homosexual marriage is against God and His word.

Being against God and His Word is well . . . petty and ignorant. But, from a free and democratic country, which is part of a world with freedom to choose God or choose sin, rebellion will be judged.

    Judgment day . . .

No, fear of more psychobabble and bigotry. I've had my fill of it, and don't feel like doing this:

    :BangHead:

    any longer.

I could type until my fingers bleed, you won't read it. Why bother?

A person of faith need not be afraid, but you obviously are. At least on this topic.

    What are you afraid of?

Psychobabble and bigotry are usually used by the world attacking the Word of God.

I am amazed that a Christian feels that a Christian would need psychobabble or bigotry to defend the Word of God.

It is like a Lion - the Word of God can defend itself.

Am I the only one distressed over the turn in this thread? Whether you believe that homosexuality is a sin or a civil right, to tell someone to take remedial reading classes and addressing questions as stupid is way beyond the bounds of civil discourse.

Yet here we are, having already heard people not here called "fags" and "queers," and having myself been called a coward.

Where is the outcry over that?

I'm just going by what I have read.

I think that, if homosexual acts are sinful, they are no more sinful than name-calling, hatred, bigotry, and extramarital/premarital sexual intercourse.

I say "if" because there is room for discussion on the topic of exactly what Paul was referring to in Romans 1. In first-century Rome, sexual slavery and pederasty was common. The kind of same-sex unions we are discussing was unheard of.

Since we Christians do not practice slavery or polygamy, and since some of us attend churches where divorced individuals and women can serve equally with others, I am open to the idea that God is God, and God's written Word is not God.

I am open to the idea that we may not know everything about the Bible and about God.

For the people who do read and understand, who don't post much themselves.

You've handled the topic well despite the jackals.

No wonder you are afraid. You appear to be very confused about God and how he has revealed himself to us in His Word.

Paul's statement in Romans is consistent with how homosexual acts are dealt with in the rest of God's Word. They are always condemned. And "marriage" is always referred to in the Bible as between a man and a woman. There is really nothing to be confused about.

I do agree with you that the sin of performing homosexual acts is, in and of itself, no worse than any other sin. But it is still a sin. By supporting it in any form, you are encouraging others to sin.

Therefore it is no wonder that clergymen will have nothing to do with a so called "marriage" between two persons of the same sex.
