    3. Evangelizing the Lost
We teach that Jesus Christ has given the church an enduring commission to evangelize the lost, with this responsibility extending to every believer. Biblical evangelism must involve both the spoken word and the unspoken testimony of a life transformed by the grace of God in Christ (Matt. 28:19; Acts 1:8; 1Th. 1:210; Tit. 3:1- 8; 1Pe. 2:12; 3:14, 15). We believe that the work of evangelism should not just be local but that we should endeavor to obey the great commission which extends the purpose of the church regarding evangelism to the whole world (Matt. 28:19; Acts 1:8).

Many Calvinist churches (as Jordan will point out) lack an evangelism emphasis in their lack of gospel tracts, lack of open air preaching, and hitting the streets with the gospel. I saw an example of this at the Reformed Baptist Church I visited last week. But the church above has a large tract wall and is very big on hitting the streets with the gospel and open air preaching. Even Jordan would like this component of the church.

Lol, it's of no use. My concern is how he treats his stepson.

What if you have an Arminian church with a tract rack, open air preaching and hitting the streets with the Gospel?

That's where I was going to go had I posted. Most non - Cal churches are like what you described. Well, except for open air preaching.

Also, the portion Evan posted in bold should be the default position of any Christian. One shouldn't be in awe that it was written down on a church website.

I think it's having a tract wall that makes the difference.

Tract wall = great church who is big on evangelism

No tract wall = a church that is horrible, hates evangelism and should be written to

Seems so sad and pathetic to me that this man who will get offended in a heartbeat for anyone judging him based on limited knowledge of things will continually judge the intentions and ministry of a church based on very little knowledge.

Let me tell you what a track does for most people. It gives them a reason to have to find a trash can. Giving most people a track is like trying to win a Catholic to the Lord using the Romans Road bot of which are about as useful as an elevator in in outhouse.

Must be clueless....i dont even know what a tract wall is!

You know, i see zero evangelism in my community ....there is no zeal for it. But when i take my dog for walks i casually ask them their about "how God is working in their lives?" Thats my attempt at evangelism.

A track wall is a place on the wall, in the church, where there is a rack that holds tracks which are available to take and share with the lost.

Who benefits from that? I know, its the printer who sold them to the church. If the HS isnt present, those things are useless.

The H.S. Spirit uses the word of God to convict.

So giving out tracts is great way to reach people.

What's the difference between using your mouth or using text to preach the gospel?

I will say though that I am a fan of confrontational evangelism, in that I like to talk to people personally and try to share Christ, but that's not always possible, so i use tracts in such scenarios.

What is a TRACK wall? I've heard of a TRACT wall, but I have yet to see a TRACK wall. Is a TRACK wall something that a church that doubles as some kind of railroad car or facility would use?

    Please explain.

    Thanks.

Is it your position that the HG cannot possibly use tracts which have the word of God in them to convict people of their need for God?

Just dont see how you are going to persuade anyone using a piece of paper or a laminated care or whatever....to me thats promotion and i question the effectiveness. But if you get deep with someone and convince him that whatever pain he or she is going through is alleviated by the Savior....well then my friend, you have been used as an instrument....you, the flesh and blood you! See Jordan, those words meant nothing to me if they didnt come with the persuasion of a human being.

Funny, but a year ago now a fellow gave me one in a supermarket....i promptly disposed of it in the 1st garbage can i could find. This is after i had been saved....i didnt even bother reading it.

I know people who have been saved through gospel tracts.

The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, and the word of God is a sharp two edged sword... whether it's word of mouth or paper.

As for you throwing a gospel tract in the garbage, I think your attitude towards that is sad.

unless it was a JW tract, then please throw it in the garbage.

Ok I said nothing of the sort. What you have posted here and what I asked about are so different they are not even in the ball park. However:

Rom 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Rom 10:11 For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."
Rom 10:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him.
Rom 10:13 For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Rom 10:14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
Rom 10:15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!"
Rom 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?"
Rom 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
