Is this speakin about the physical reinstatement of the kingdom of Israel? If so was this fulfilled in 1948 with the founding of the nation of Israel?

    Israel Restored

25 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Now I will (31) restore the fortunes of Jacob and have mercy on the whole (32) house of Israel; and I will be (33) jealous for My holy name.
26 "They will [1] (34) forget their disgrace and all their treachery which they [2] perpetrated against Me, when they (35) live securely on their own land with (36) no one to make them afraid.
27 "When I (37) bring them back from the peoples and gather them from the lands of their enemies, then I shall be (38) sanctified through them in the sight of the many nations.
28 "Then they will know that I am the LORD their God because I made them go into exile among the nations, and then gathered them again to their own land; and I will leave none of them there any longer.
29 "I will not hide My face from them any longer, for I will have (39) poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel," declares the Lord GOD.

Looking for opinions backed up with biblical examples.

There are several things contained in this passage that cause me to believe it is yet unfulfilled.

Verse 25 says that the Lord will "have mercy upon the whole house of Israel." Verse 28 says that HE, "have left none of them any more there." How could this be fulfilled with modern day Israel for many of the Jews still live in other parts of the earth.

Verse 29 says, "Neither will I hide my face any more from them," and verse 28 says, "Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God." These seems to indicate a national conversion by the children of Israel. This has obviously not happened yet, but will occur during the tribulation time.

I would say this is still unfulfilled. Verse 26 says that they, "they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid." I would have to say that has not happened yet.

I agree. I think that there is FAR too much going on in there for it to be fulfilled. One more thing. Isreal dosen't appear on many maps. It appears as Palestine I believe. Correct me if i'm wrong.

So has it started being fulfilled? I have heard some say that once the nation of Israel is founded it will not fall until the second coming. They base this on these verses, I think.

    Just digging,

Most maps made today have Israel labeled. The only exceptions are those printed n Moslem nations who usually put Palestine.

If the restoration of Israel is a sign of the return of Christ we must remember that Israel was restored once already after Ezekiel was written, and that nation did not last. There will be a nation of Israel in the last days, but if that nation is the same Israel we have now I think requires some guess work. It may well be, but perhaps not.

Yes, it speaks of a physical
    renewal of physical Yisrael.
No, it was not the 1948 renewal. Well unless
    horses push carts that is.

In the late 70s (I haven't checked it much
lately), Rabbis believed Ezekiel chapter 38,
and Ezekiel chapter 39 to be two seperate
    but future prophecies.

    I believe Ez.28 to
be a prophecy that will be fulfilled about
the time of the end of the Church Age,
the start of the Tribulation, the 24-hour
    day of the rapture/resurrection.

I believe Ez.29 speaks of the time after
the physical Millinnial Kingdom of Jesus
after the manner of Revelation 20:8.

Thus, IMHO this restoration of Physical
Yisrael cannot happen until an additional
1,007 years have passed. Earliest date
    would be 2004 + 1007 = 3011AD.
