Because of enmity against God !

One of the reasons, and a important one at that, as to why one must be born again before they believe on Christ, Obey the Gospel as these did not do Rom 10:16

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

And how these do Rom 6:17

17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Its because By nature, all men are at enmity to God and not subject to the Law of God, and more importantly" NEITHER INDEED CAN BE "

Dont just take my word for it, here its stated by the Word of God Rom 8:7-8

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

You may say, but that says, they are not subject to the Law of God ! Thats Right, which means they cannot be subject to God Period ! God is His Law, there is No God without God's Law !

Also the word Law in Rom 8:7 is not just specifically speaking of God's Law of Moses or the Ten Commandments, Paul Law in general, because the enmity is against God, so the word Law NOMOS:

usage, custom, law; in NT: of law in general, plur: of divine laws; of a force or influence impelling to action; of the Mosaic law; meton: of the books which contain the law, the Pentateuch, the Old Testament scriptures in general.

(nĂ³mos) is used of: a) the Law (Scripture), with emphasis on the first five books of Scripture; or b) any system of religious thinking (theology), especially when nomos occurs without the Greek definite article.

The Carnal mind is not subject to the Commanding of God, and it cannot be.

Now with this fact established any Gospel Commands such as Repentance Acts 17:31

30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Believing on the Name of Christ as Commanded by God 1 Jn 3:23

23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

So without first being Born Again, to bring one out of the domain of the carnal flesh, man cannot obey any Gospel Command of Faith and Repentance toward God Acts 20:21

21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

And remember the carnal mind is enmity against God Rom 8:7

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

So it cant have repentance toward God, its Impossible !

And obviously, cannot be born again....
...which leads to the question, if they can't be born again, and the ones already elected are elected while even yet in unbelief, then who can be born again?

Put it into practical terms for us SBM
    1. How do you know you are born again (one of the elect)?
    2. How do you know that you are saved?
    3. How did it all happen with you, personally?

Do you know for sure your sins are all forgiven, if so, how?

    What are you talking about?
I simply asked you some straight forward questions.
If you can't answer them, then you are the one that is evading these questions.
That is obvious to all that is reading this.

You need to address the points I made in the posts , if not then you are evading them and starting a rabbit trail away from them !

I have addressed them in this previous post:
It remains as true now as when I posted it.
It is time to move on. Now answer my questions.

You see every time you are asked a personal question you evade it.
You don't answer it. This goes right back to 2011. It makes me wonder if you actually have a personal relationship with Christ. Most believers are eager to share their testimony and love to talk about their Savior. But here???

You have to do it from a browser, either on your phone or a PC. Once a person is on ignore you won't know they exist on Tapatalk unless someone else quotes them.

As I said earlier, savedbymercy's own theology dictates that people are born saved. She confirmed that to me in another thread. It's a theology that does not hold to the scripture. If the elect are born saved, then Jesus's words that a man must be born again become meaningless. How is one born again prior to being born in the first place?

Looks like everyone has strayed from the basic premise of the OP established by the scriptures, that Faith pleases God Heb 11:6 and those in the flesh [unregenerate] cannot please God Rom 8:8 so quite frankly that eliminates the possibility of anyone by nature ever putting Faith in Christ ! If that ever happened then Rom 8:8 is a Lie !

Salvation comes by grace through faith, and faith comes by hearing the preached word of God to compel people to repent and call on the name of the Lord. But according to you, people are born saved, yet I haven't seen you explain how these people heard the word of God preached prior to their birth. I haven't seen you explain how people avoid the necessity of being born again, seeing as they're already saved from birth.

What I haven't been able to quite figure out is whether she's trying to support calvinism, without realizing that her postings are not standard calvinist theology; or if she's so hyper-calvin she doesn't even realize it; or if she's actually espousing a different viewpoint entirely (that broaches on unitarianism).

It appears only a lie to your gross misinterpretation of this verse, which was written to believers. Believers can be both carnal, living after the flesh, or spiritual, living lives yielded to the Holy Spirit. It is their choice.

Romans 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
--It is their choice whether or not they want to please God, as believers. You choose the lifestyle, as a believer that you want to live.
--When you call someone "LIAR" on this board, is it of the "flesh" or "of the Spirit? You answer.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
--If you allow yourself to be conformed to the world you are living a carnal life, a life according to the dictates of your flesh, and are not pleasing God. This is written to Christians.

This entire epistle is written to believers. Look what John says:
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
--Worldliness is one of the greatest sins of a believer and God hates it. It involves carnality, the lust of the flesh. It cannot; does not please God.
--It is spiritual adultery and fornication.

James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
--If a believer is a friend of the world he is the enemy of God. God hates the life of one who lives according to the flesh, a carnal life. He does not please God.

This is what Romans 8:8 is speaking about. It is speaking to Christians not unbelievers. It applies just as much to you as any other person. Your argument fails on both the misinterpretation and misapplication of this verse.

this is the correct observation on these postings.

I do not think this is so...however the confused nature of the posts leaves it as possible...

If she was in a learning posture she would be offered correction like happens in acts 18.....but when no correction is welcomed then she stands or falls on her own...staying in combat mode.

That's right , those in the flesh cannot please God ! Rom 8:8 ! Now who is in the flesh ? Those who don't have the Spirit ! A Christian / Believer is not in the flesh because they have the Spirit of Christ in them Rom 8:9 ! So Rom 8:8 cannot reference a believer !

    Wrong

    Wrong

    .

    Wrong

    Wrong

Your false posting here complicates this issue beyond repair.

SBM has made some statements that are true, and some that need correction or further instruction.

You are not the person to offer that help as your failure to understand romans 8 is a monumental failure.

Your explanation of an optional Christian life, optional holiness, discounts everything you previously posted on this thread when you tried to borrow from others the language of Jesus being LORD.

You cannot believe the truth of the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and hold the carnal Christian heresy at the same time.

you believe you can,but this causes a denial of the ongoing nature of progressive sanctification.

    Your responses to Paul's question;

6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Your answer is ...yes by all means...we can and do continue on practicing sin. caught up in the world as adulterers, liars, and thieves etc....we make that choice and have that option, and if we continue, we might lose a yo-yo, or a tootsie role pop in the future millennial kingdom:laugh:

    Paul says;
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
