Is faith alone required for salvation, or faith plus right beliefs? Some on here who claim to believe in faith alone actually do not because they add on right beliefs as being necessary for salvation -- read the "Coptic Christians" thread.

So, I ask: since Methodists, Anglicans, Lutherans, Presbyterians and others teach and practice infant baptism and sacramental theology, and Baptists consider this false doctrine, are people in these denominations saved? What about Church of Christ? Pentecostals?

Let's see who really believes that faith alone is required for salvation, or if it's faith plus right beliefs. If you maintain the latter, are you not doing the same thing that you accuse the faith plus works people of doing -- adding something to faith as necessary to salvation?

Faith in what? Faith in Buddah? In Joseph Smith? Or maybe faith in the concept of some God out there? Just what faith?

Do you believe the Bible (Rom.5:1; Eph.2:8,9)?
Or do your life experiences trump that which the Bible teaches?

    I don't know what you're talking about.

Why don't you answer the original post?

Maybe you could define what you mean by faith Michael.

I know a lot of folks don't like Mohler, but his writing on theological triage is very good and relevant to the topic of this thread.

You specifically bring up Church of Christ. They believe baptism is necessary for salvation. So, do you believe that is correct?

Denominations that teach that infant baptism saves a child teach heresy. Do you believe that is correct?

Ephesians 2:8-9 tell the reader that works do not save... faith does.

But where that faith is focused determines whether or not that faith saves.

The Apostle Paul, in his second epistle to the Church at Corinth, warned the saints not to follow "another Jesus".

One can place their faith in "another Jesus" and their faith is fruitless.

I read on another forum that if a person is preaching Christ to another person and that Christ they are presenting does not have all the attributes of the Son of God, that one cannot be the Son of God.

I would agree. Faith in a false Christ is faith in vain.

I did answer the original post.
The Bible teaches in Rom.5:1 and in a host of other passages that salvation is by faith and faith alone. It is a gift of God, not of works. To add to the work of Christ is any way, shape, or form is heresy and takes away from the sufficiency of the blood of Christ.

That would automatically exclude the RCC, Anglican, COC, and a host of other religions. Salvation is by faith, not by faith plus works, but by faith alone.

Does God send ignorant people to Hell because of their ignorance?

I don't know anyone among our kind of Baptists that believe we are saved "by faith alone."

We believe we are justified by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone without works.

However, the term "saved" takes in more than the doctrine of justification but includes not only the elective purpose of God but the manifest redemptive Person and work of Jesus Christ and the regenerative work of the Holy Spirit in addition to justification.

That is not the point. The question I am asking is: Do you hold that faith alone saves, or that faith must be accompanied by right belief?

Do you believe Methodists, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Lutherans, Church of Christ, and Pentecostals who have accepted Jesus as their Savior by faith are saved or not?

So fundamentalist, one-point Calvinist Baptists are the only ones who are saved? If that's what you believe, that is astonishing.

Are you absolutely positive on that?
