What exactly is a Baptist based synagogue?? How does it differ from a church? I have never heard of this before.

    Pastor Larry --

I have totally gotten us off topic! I am sorry! I will
answer this, then maybe you guys would like to
    get back on topic? Sorry!!

The pastor (one of two now) who started this
synagogue is Jewish but reared the son of a
Baptist pastor. His heart, however, was toward
the Jews, so he headed that direction rather than
toward the general Baptist churches. He got his
basic education in a Baptist seminary, then
continued on in Hebrew studies in order to reach
    out to Jews.

Our synagogue was started 15 years ago in a
little empty house, with basically Jews who had
realized that our Lord is the Messiah. This is
where I first began attending, while still a member
of my old church. Soon, it outgrew the house,
and we rented rooms to use on Sabbath fron
churches. These soon became too small, so
we had to have our own synagogue. Now, the
congregation is about 48% Jewish to 52%
    Gentile, and we love it.

We are more orthodox than the other Messianic
shuls in the area, of which there must be about
seven. Many of the men wear tzitzit, etc., and
some of the women wear headcoverings while
in the synagogue (I don't but may soon during
    prayers--thinking about it).

We use a siddur, read and say much in Hebrew,
and we have Torah scrolls (a main one and two
others). The services are very much like those
in other synagogues, but we know that our Lord
is the Messiah and worship Him there.

Although I attended for years while a member of
a church, I was not a member until the old church
    excommunicated me.
