If that happens(I don't think that salvation is based on how one votes), that will be fine with me as I am quite at peace about how I plan to vote. :)

Sounds very fishy doesn't it. And the Obamas themselves have fed this whole messiah attitude with comments such as - "That is why I’m here, because Barack Obama is the only person in this race who understands that, that before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation…. So I am here right now, because I am married to the only person in this race who has a chance of healing this nation."

No, salvation is not based on how you vote, nor has anyone said that, so you can light a match to that strawman. You say that you are at peace - do you give no room for the possibility that you might be deceived?

Did Obama loose a vote or were you undecided? Did this clip really make you believe he is the anti-christ?

Probably to the same degree that you give room to the possibility that you might be deceived about a candidate for public office. :)

Thanks for this longer version. I listened to it in its entirety. Ignoring the fact that these words are coming from a Muslim named Farrakhan I have to say some of what he said is intriguing if not accurate. He really made me think. I have to admit I don't know what the Koran says about the coming of the Messiah so it's hard for me to be factual in my assessment of his theology.

Clearly Farrakhan will vote for Obama and is presenting his parishioners what he feels is a good argument for why they should vote likewise. He then goes on to paint Obama as the HOPE for not only his race, this Nation but for the entire world by being one who can break down the obstacles that are preventing America from engaging in deeper negotiation relationships in the middle east and other parts of the world.

It's in this light that Farrakhan proclaims, "Brother and sisters TO ME, Barak Obama is the herald of the Messiah. Barak Obama is like the trumpet that alerts you that something new, something better is on the way."

Again, I'm not familiar with the Muslim beliefs regarding the messiah but I don't take his comment to be religious based since he prefaced it with, "TO ME". This makes his comments opinion, exclusive to Farrakhan and not one of everyone in the room. So if anything, we have one person who believes Obama is the herald of the Messiah.

I can respect his view though I clearly disagree because I know the Messiah came over 2k years ago and has died for the Hope of the world. As for placing Obama on a pedestal, if nothing else, I FEEL Obama has held up a mirror so this nation can take a real good look at itself. If we have hope of "fixing" the world we should start with the Nation in the mirror.

Today I pulled up to a stop light and was behind a biker that had, "that's why they call it the WHITE house, N word" on the back of his shirt. Equally the black community is failing this same test since some are voting for Obama exclusively because he's black.

We are seeing the true hearts of our fellow American's while also looking inside ourselves which is putting our perceived social/racial progress to the test. We say we're a democratic nation with non-discrimination written in our creed but now we are seeing that this theory of non-discrimination, just like the conservative or liberal views, is not universally held by all Americans. Nothing wrong with that. We're not all the same and we knew this to be the case so this revelation in and of itself is no surprise. The question is how we as a society, the majority, the populous, the Nation feel toward each other despite our differences?

Don't take my comment to imply if you're white and don't vote for Obama you're a bigot. That is clearly not a fact. I think it runs much deeper than that. It gets down to and resides with the reason you don't vote for Obama. If it's because you're political or life/world view is different from his then fine. If it's because he has socialist views or pro-choice and you disagree then fine. But if at the end of the list, when all other excuses have been reviewed and discounted, the reason you are voting for or against Obama boils down to his race, then consider this election as notice for room to grow. This will make us better as a nation and as a people.

In this light I have to wonder if Farrakhan might have a good point. "Barak Obama is like the trumpet that alerts you that something new, something better is on the way."

No, I was a firm Obama supporter at the beginning; I have been a democrat most of my life. Also, just because this fool Farrakhan supports Obama was not a deciding factor in and of itself.

What changed my mind is a culmination of things. Obama wanting to tax the rich as a type of punishment for being well off was a start. I, by no means am well to do, I would not even be middle class by most standards, but to be jealous toward those better off than myself is anything but Christian. Plus, if we punish the rich we often end up punishing ourselves as well. I know that if the owners of the company I work for are taxed out of business, I will suffer much more than they will.

Add to the above Obama's stance on abortion, gay rights, and I find it impossible to help put him in office.

I had thought this also so I did some research and learned some eye opening things. Obama is only proposing a 3% increase but the biggest hit will be from closing Bush loopholes which makes them pay a lesser percentage than you or I. If your company hires, fires or closes its doors exclusively because of taxes, they were in serious trouble and not financially solid to begin with.

I respect your decision so won't try to spin things one way or another except to say we'll really miss your help on the board and your vote in the booth. You need to vote your conscience so go with your best choice...

Are you really trying to tell me you can't tax a business out of business ?

Not if the business is sound to begin with. I can't imagine a a stable business hiring or firing one employee because of taxes. And if a slight tax increase causes them to close their doors this economy was going to consume them anyhow. This is survival of the fittest days if you haven't noticed.

I would also venture to say any company in this position makes less than $250K/yr so they won't see any increase.

Hardly. It's survival of those who get handouts, at the expense of the fittest.

Taxes affect business, and I believe mine will go up.

The bolded portion is incorrect. Please demonstrate the acclaimed Bush loopholes that do this. I'll be waiting.

I doubt it. From your posts on this board, you appear to place much more hope and confidence in politicians than I ever would. Thus, when I vote for someone it is always with some level of trepidation knowing that I am voting for a mere man and not a messiah.

What about minimum wage and worker's comp? These are not paid to the government as taxes, but they are government imposed mandates on every small business that hires employess. Every year that these go up, it makes it harder for a small business to keep the employees they already have, much less hire more so that they can grow.

In the end, the company is penalized by having less working capital, and the comsumer is charged more for the goods and services.

Yet, do the democrats feel that these cost of business increases benifit the economy as a whole? Or, is it, that they pander to the working poor in trying to make them believe that the Democrats care about them? I believe it is just politcal strategy to gain support of people who dont know better.

Yes LeBuick, the Democrats are legislating small businesses out of business, whether its taxes or other government imposed financial mandates.

Obama's is so impportant , as the "Messiah", that he has to be a part of every thread concerning candidates, don't you think?

I am not an economist by any means, and I'm not saying that companies should be untaxed while the poor or middle class pay all the taxes, although actually the poor don't pay any income taxes at all. I just think that if the ones who supply jobs are viewed as the enemy, then workers should not complain when they are unemployed.

In the end though, it is the moral issues that made the final difference for me. The democratic stance on abortion, especially Obama's beliefs have bothered me for quite a while. Finally I decided that I could not help put a man in office who seems to not care for the unborn at all.

I believe like so many here do in one respect; there is not that much difference between the republicans and the democrats when it comes to what they actually do when elected. I would hate to be partially responsible for putting a man with Obama's record on abortion in office when he probably won't do much to improve the lives of those who support him in regards to the promises he has made.

Remember, they are politicians. Politics -- poly: from the root word meaning many; tics: from latin origin meaning blood suckers!

Too much to go through in a forum like this because the tax breaks are industry specific. If you believe someone in the 38% bracket actually pays 38% then that's your prerogative. I know better.
