The kid was probably molested by his grandfather.

Two examples of exceptionally bad parenting, and as the father is the parent of the daughter who disowned her gay son, he is to blame for her cloddishness.

No he is not. He is to blame for his own bad parenting. His daughter made her own stupid decision & she has to own up to that. Does this article say anything about either of these people & the child being Christian?

I could be wrong as there isn't much information and all we can do is read between the lines.
well, the way I read the situation is the father is not a believer, the daughter is.
so, if the father is not a believer, of course, he is going to be a bit on the liberal side. notice he mentioned that the opinion of the daughter is that being gay is an 'abomination'.

We parent how we were parented, unconsciously or not. I stand by my post.

Nope. Though Granddad makes a reference to her disowning him as being "the real abomination here," which might indicate she said something to that effect. She might be a Christian, or she might just be a homophobe and quoted something she'd heard from the Bible. Who knows? Either way, if she is or she isn't, she certainly isn't acting Christian. Neither is he. If he is so shocked and hurt by her disowning her son, how is disowning "right"?

Maybe you do.....but I dont. When you are in front of that recording Angel, tell him your parents made you who you are & you were just programmed by them. See how far ya get!
Thats my point.....how can you be a true saved Christian & operate in that fashion? Old adage is , Two wrongs dont make a right. There really needs to be some serious Christian counseling going on here in order to right this ship.

I had an uncle who was homosexual, practicing or not I do not know. it was before my time. I had an aunt who was a practicing, shacked in,lesbian, one who was bisexual, both deceased.

I have a niece who is lesbian, and her brother is homosexual.

when my aunts ask me what the Bible says, I give it to them right between the eyes, no apologies, no holding back.
    But disowning blood ?

If (and God has been gracious to spare us as parents) it so happened a child was born to me who in later life says he/she is homo or lesbian, I WILL NOT DISOWN HIM OR HER.
    Blood is blood.
And GOD IS SOVEREIGN AND OMNISCIENT.
If I am His child, and He allows me a child who is such, disowning that child is like saying God made a mistake, and resenting is like saying to Him, how dare you ?

It is so easy to look down our noses at those who had this happen to them, but what if it hits closer to home ?
There is nothing in the Bible that says parents are to disown their children who are homosexuals, in fact the Bible tells parents not to cause their children to have contempt for them.
The sons of Eli were sons of Belial, did God tell him to disown them ?
    No. He dealt with them.

What this lady should have done is LAY DOWN THE RULES.
I'm a Christian, you know how I feel about this, you say you were born that way, I say you were not, that this lifestyle is your choice, and since you are living under MY roof, eating MY food on MY table, then here are MY rules.
RESPECT MY BELIEF AND MY CONVICTIONS.

No boyfriends/lovers in my house, no sleepovers of ANYONE in my house, and if unavoidably or unexpectedly boyfriends or lovers do come into this, MY HOUSE, there will be no display of affection in any way, no introducing of yourselves to others as "lovers", and you will ALWAYS be visible to me and to everybody else while in the house.
Those are my rules, and I am not giving you a choice.
this is my house, and in my house, God rules, and His word is law.

That's how I will handle it.
    Blood is blood.

Homosexuality in itself is not condemned by Scripture.
It is the PRACTICE that is condemned.
When is somebody to be stoned ?
When he lies with a man as with a woman, not when he has the URGE to lie with a man as with a woman.

Do we remember the man born blind ?
Jesus said his blindness is for God's glory.
And if we, by His Omniscience, receive a child who is rebellious and chooses a lifestyle contrary to Scripture, why wouldn't that be for His glory ?

I figured if this daughter is a believer, she probably has a Bible-waving, pulpit pounding, totally caffeinate, spittle frothing pastor teaching her and that's the kind of preaching she hears.
of course I may be wrong.
like somebody said, she might not even be a believer but just somebody who hears "stuff" on the radio or tv or somewhere.

But I think she was wrong.
Not to say her father was right, either.

    Good stuff.

We have in the family a le$bian. She came out years ago when our daughter was young. After she came out though she had this over tendency to all of a sudden want to hold, hug, give kisses (cheek) to our daughter and was over-bearing about it. She was never that way before.

We had to have a come to Jesus meeting and I questioned her why all of a sudden there was such 'pda' for our daughter and told her I'd appreciate her to back off.

Of course this was met with outrage from her, threatenings as well, and that I just hate her and h0m0sectuals.

It's not the same as having one as a child who is in any way, but my point is the hate goes both ways and we shouldn't forget that, and that their hate is oft times unfounded.

I'm not talking about eternal responsibilities. I'm talking about temporal ones. There is no evidence, other than circumstantial, the father and daughter know anything about eternal ones.

Again, there's no evidence any of them are, so it isn't germane to the discussion. The first thing all three need to hear is the gospel of Christ. I doubt any of them have received it with joy.

And there is the PRIMARY PROBLEM. I could tell you this for certainty, they are definitely NOT Hard Shell Baptists (shameless plug :love2:). We strongly believe that children ought to be brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph. 6: 4), but this is primarily the responsibility of the parents in the home. So we would definitely NOT RECOGNIZE this ilk.

As a side note.....I keep toying with going back to school & getting a degree in Christian counseling. I think the world desperately needs Christ & a great amount of Christian counseling.

didn't God show us how we are to really love evn the waywerd, in the example of the prophet who married the 'whore", and even though she kept going behind his abck, the prophet keeping wooing and bringing her back?

Again, no evidence there is a background among these three for a biblical reference to have any validity.

But wouldn't God expect us to love our children in same fashion, regardless if we/they were saved or lost?
