I like the one with that guy who did that thing with the what-do-you-call-it and then God comes along...

Seriously, I like the Psalms because they show someone going through all sorts of everyday trials (and not-so-everyday trials) and shows how God meets him, comforts him, provides for him, and protects him in thise everyday situations.

It's the one that God usue the most to speak to me.

Minor Prophets are where I cruise in the various translations for God to really get a hold of me.

And I love Romans in the NT for the doctrinal content and simple theological truths it defends.

BTW, I moved this from "Welcome" to "General Discussion" where it is more fitting.

I would have to say Job. I love the way it shows a unique perspective on the nature of God and from a literary point, how it is written like a play. I also like how God puts Job in his place at the end. The whole narrative about the leviathan and the ineffectiveness of mankind. Great story, very ancient.

That's a hard one. I think Galatians is my all-time favorite, but I REALLY, REALLY enjoy digging around in all of it. I spend more time in the NT than the OT, but I could just spend hours every day studying this and that (without commentaries, etc. -- I REALLY don't like commentaries). I love finding out what the Word says about the Word and how this links up with that and illuminates the other.

In the old testament, Psalms and Job. In the New, The writings of Paul (all of them but especially Galations) and John. For a gentile Christian, I think the more time we spend in the doctrines of Grace, written by Bro. Paul, the better we will understand the concept of the whole Bible.

Aren't we mixing things up a wee bit here? In this two-part question of yours are you referring to Psalm 68:18 & Ephesians 4:8, 9 (ascending / descending) versus Isaiah 22:22 & Revelations 3:7 (the key)? The first part describes a conquering hero and the second part the mark of the office (either sacred or civil), in this case representing the Messianic authority. Is this what you were inquiring about?
