    Amy Grant's "It Wasn't His Child" -
If you haven't heard it, it is the story of how much Joseph loved Christ.

Also - Do You Hear What I Hear?

    Drummer Boy.

    O' Holy Night.

Silent Night because of the verse that says, "Son of God, Love's Pure Light. Radiant beams from thy holy face, with the dawn of redeeming grace."

Oops - That is Trisha Yearwood's song. Not Amy Grants.

Christmas At Ground Zero by Weird Al Yankovic  :D

Now to get a bit serious before I get excommunicated... [IMG]

    O Come All Ye Faithful
    Hark The Herald Angels Sing
Silent Night (love playing that one on guitar)
Once In Royal David's City (Not many lines better than "He came down to Earth from Heaven, Who is God and Lord of all!")

...and I guess it's that time of the year for me to get on my soapbox on why Who Is He In Yonder Stall by Benjamin Hanby isn't played as often as it should be  [IMG]

Thanks, ASLANSPAL, for the link to LDB by Harry Simeone Chorale. This album has been one of my favorites since it first came out when I was in 1st or 2nd grade. This is the defining recording of LDB, no others can match it for quality and effectiveness. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

"March of the Three Kings" From Traditional France. Much better than "We Three Kings," especially the way my father see's it.

Even though I don't particularly care for the piece (LDB), you are correct with this being the definitive recording.

We'd like to have some recommendations on good old fashioned Christmas music that isn't compromised by someones desire to impress us with their arrangement. Just beautiful music sung faithfully to the authors intention.

Actually, it was written by Skip Ewing. Sawyer Brown had the best rendition for me.

    But my favorite?

O Holy Night by David Phelps

I also like "The Carol of the Bells" - the Wilhousky arrangement.

"Do You Hear What I Hear" is beautiful. A group called Regeneration made a wonderful recording of it in the 70's on the album "Christmas in Velvet".
