    Funny thing is. . I never played in band. Until a few months ago, like a few months before Christmas, I never played anything before a crowd of anybody.

    Then, our church staff one day decided to play in a band during the service, and my out was the percussion. And it stuck.

    Hi all!! I have a thumb harp, that's what I call it anyway, and my metal "bars" are positioned across a 1 1/2" hole cut into the side of a hollowed-out coconut. You are right, they are very soothing to play.

    On the more conventional side I hava a Yamaha Clavinova, which is a piano but contains just about any other instument you could think of , and some you didn't know of!!! But I prefer mostly to play on the Grand Piano. I also play an Auto Harp and a Soprano Sax--a Selmer.

    Both of these are self-taught.

    I have a National Guitar, electrified so can plug it in at church or just play acoustic around the campfire.

    Also a 12-string, but a long way from Peter, Paul and Mary proficiency. More of a John Denver strum along type.

    Thinking of joining our church "band" which includes a songleader with a tambourine and an electric keyboard and piano. Church organ sits idle in the corner, a fossil from a previous era.

    Think in my old age of taking back the string bass. Played for 12 years but never touched one since college. Must be like riding a bike; if I can make the bifocals focus on the music, should pick it up quickly. :rolleyes:

    In my high school rock and roll days I played lead guitar with a 64 Fender Mustang, cherry red. I wish I had it today. Love them Fenders! Can't play anymore since I lost a couple of fingers.

    I love to play piano, so of course it's my favorite.
    I also love to hear the Rachester Family {has anyone heard them sing?} sing and their son can play fiddle, banjo, and harmonica good. {well good isn't the proper word to describe it.}
    I love southern gospel and old hymns played by any instrument.
