Got that right. Hmm ... I was watching a car commercial the other day and could swear I heard Mozart's "Requiem" in the background. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of the car's safety features.

Yeah, I think it's still a soundtrack, although I wouldn't call that a movie .... it's more like the world's longest Music Video. [IMG] I have to say I still like that one, too ... even bought the video.

Top 5? Since we seem to be puttering around between soundtracks, scores and musicals, I'll list my top five lists of each, in no particular order.

    top 5 soundtracks:
    Pulp Fiction
    Mambo Kings
Bridges of Madison County (never saw the movie, never wanted to. the book was horrible, but the music was fabulous)
Eyes Wide Shut (half soundtrack, half score)
    The Matrix

    top 5 scores:
    Heathers
Little Women - 1994 Winona Ryder version
Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love
    The Mission
I'm also going to cop out and just say "almost anything by John Williams" -- seems to be a theme [IMG]

    top 5 stage musicals:
    Tommy
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Hedwig and the Angry Inch (actually made for a pretty good movie, too, but I like the stage production better)
    Chicago
toss up: Company or She Loves Me

    top 5 operas:
    The Consul
    Carmen
    Lucia di Lammermoor
    Pelleas et Melisande
    La Boheme

    top 5 operettas:
    The Pirates of Penzance
    Sweeney Todd
    Miss Saigon
    The Merry Widow
    The Mikado

    top 5 movie musicals:
    The Sound of Music
    The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (put here because I like it better than any version of The Rocky Horror Show I've seen on stage)
    Moulin Rouge (technically operetta, but . . . )
    My Fair Lady

    1. The Bridge on the River Kwai
    2. The Sound of Music
    3. The Heiress
    4. The Greatest Story Ever Told*
    5. Lawrence of Arabia*

*I do not endorse the movie itself, but I like the soundtrack.
