I always wanted to BE Ellie Mae!!

But Jed had to be there to balance out the crazies on all sides! Buddy Ebsen was the best!

Jethro Bodine was to the Beverly Hillbillies as Barney Fife was to the Andy Griffith show . Uncle Jed was the stabilizing force on the BH , and Andy was the bedrock center of the AG program .

    Absolutely!

Is there a chance that there will ever be shows like this on television again? (new ones, that is....)

Yes, primarily; but I see it more that he was the "voice of reason" for the hillbillies, and Jane Hathaway was the voice of reason for the urban/educated camp. Jed was certainly hillbilly, and Jane was certainly well-learned; but Jed didn't let the rest of the family go too far (as in plowing up the front lawn for a garden or feuding without talking first), and Jane would go out of her way to keep slickers or snobs from taking advantage of the hillbillies because she had great appreciation for them.

Granny always cracked me up. She was like a tempest in a teapot.

I voted for Justin Addison. That episode was classic.

    "Hi, I'm Justin Addison"

Jed: "Don't be so down on yourself, young feller"

It would have to be with different actors, so it just wouldn't be the same.
