Ladies, Maybe some of you computer ladies may be able to help me. I keep things that are interesting or important ( Like Baptist Board ) in my favorites list as I am sure you do also.

A couple days ago I was going through this list trying to weed out things I no longer use. Well I found some really nasty things in there.

I can assure you I never placed this garbage in my computer.
Only my husband and I live here. he does not have any interest at all in computers and is a saved person , and was not interested in prono stuff before he was saved so I am quite sure he did not do this.
Finally I will get to my question. Is it possible for me to put something in the favorite list and that site have tags to them that get attached. I haven't the foggiest.
BTW is there a spell check somewhere on this site or do I just have to learn to spell and type? Thanks Mk

Hello Mary Kay and welcome to the board. There is a computer thread that this post would be more appropriate in.

I also use favorites, I have Yahoo and I have never, ever seen anything I have saved be attached to something else like you have mentioned. Now this doesn't mean it can't happen, but I have used all different programs and it has never happened to me unless someone put it there.

There are alot of saved people who have an addiction to pornography. It is just that , an addiction, like alcohol.

I am not suggesting anything, but don't assume saved people, men or women, do not have these addictions.

Post in the computer thread, someone there may know better... [IMG]

Laura , Thanks ,I may do that..I was just embarrassed that those things were on my favorites list. I know that I have pop ups ever so often and just click them off, but that they were in a saved place and would appear that I am a pervert. I totally understand what you are saying. I have been married to the same man for 38 years and I know him as well as I know myself. Besides he can't turn the computer on ..if he could he would have no idea what to do next.I love him and he has many talents but he can't do anything mechanical. If I can't fix things around here I have to call in the experts. Mk :D

ahve had the saem ting happen to me. I beleive somehow with all the popups, someof them do soemthing to add themselves to the list, becaue one day I found like 6 of them, and I had just deleted them a few days before. I also have the theory it's got soemthing to do with spyware.
My husband doesn't anyting about the comptuer either, not even how ti turn it one for sure, or how toget a browers window open, mush less navigate the internet.

Sorry about so many typos, I want to learn to type fast, and not make mistakes, or at least so many of them.

If you want to be sure that porn is not intentionally being searched  , check your history page. Just another tip that has helped me keep tabs on my husband's "interests".

Katie , Thanks so much for telling this to me. I don't know much about computers. When they work I do fairly well . Went they don't ..I'm lost. I'm sorry it happened to you too but I feel better now at least know knowing that it has happened to someone other innocent person. I just don't know how to fix it. Haven't had that happen again so the next time I add something I will watch closely for a few days and try the process of elimation to see which web page has these little bad boys. It really wasn't pictures it was sex products .I didn't open it ,just deleted ,but it still made me mad. Thanks again Mk

I forgot about that too, with husbands who do use the computer, or tenagers. A friend of mine her husband visits thsoe sites,a nd she doesn' like it, even saved some pictures on thier computer. She sais if she knew how she'd get rid of them. So we sat down one day searched history, and cookies,a dn found he'd been to many sites,a dn searched out all the pictures, at least 100 of them hidden on the computer, and deleted them al. He never mentioned it to her. But a few months later we had to do the samething. Now she doesn't bother, she just leaves them. I wouldn't, her son just turned 12 and now the computer is in his room.

History and cookies can be easily erased. If nothing is in history, be sure to check the cookies. I don't think a lot of folks know about erasing cookies.

I don't see how anything can be on your favorites list with out adding them. Somebody had to do it. Is anybody else using your computer? Also,a husband sneaking around to view porno probably would not add them to your favorites list!!! That is too strange!

I would do an investigation...starting with checking your history...it will show what pages have been viewed....

There is nothing I hate more than pornography and the computer has made it accessible to so many! Ughhh...that is why we have a filter...can't access any of it ever,no pop ups...would not have it in our home any other way!

    Molly,

Let me email a friend of mine and I'll let you know what he says. He's a computer technician. [IMG]

Right click on the blue 'e' on your desk top. When the gray box comes up, click on 'temporary internet files'/'settings', there will be another gray box, click on 'view files'. You can check here to see where your computer has been on the internet. And you can delete them from your computer. But be aware that it also delets all your passwords , example, I put in my password here on the BB and never log out since I m the only on in the house that visits the BB. But when I delete cookies, I have relog in at the BB and other places. I am always logged on to the BB and ebay, and another message board becasue of the cookies/temporary internet files.

Good thread. FYI: if you're a Macintosh user, you can filter out all pop-up windows using Mac's Safari browser. It's equal to Netscape and Internet Explorer - maybe even better. I really like it.

Speaking of porn material, I recently debunked my "old" yahoo email address and started up a new one. I got more junk on that email address and most of it porn. It was more than annoying - it was degrading and rediculous!!

MaryKay, besides checking history and cookies browse through all your preferences to see if there's any other way to get a handle on the unwanted "favorites".

    God Bless ... PJ [IMG]

You don't have to open Internet explorer to view these files. Some people do not have internet explorer.

    Here is another way.

Click- START---Then Settings---Then Control Panel---then Internet Options, there you have it. I check mine once a week. And I clear my history when checked. Also there is a program called 3Xwatch- I downloaded it free off of xxxchurch.com.
Now ladies do not let the name scare you. It is a site aginst porno. What 3Xwatch is, is a program you download. It's like you need an accountability partner, but I have it and hubby dont know. I get an e-mail once a month that tells me all the "questionable" material that may have been viewed!
I have to say BB was there... [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

It's a good site tho if y'all want to check it out.

I would get one of those spyware programs. It seems(and I think someone here on BB told me about this) that when you download stuff from the net, there are companies who paid to piggy back on that program, and thats how you are getting porn popups, all the time, I beleive this thing of them being in the favorites list too. The email is different I think. When ever you sign up for something and have to give an email, they sell lists of emaisl, just like selling mailing address so you recieve junk mial in your mail box, so you get junk mail in your email box. I've seen sites that said they didn't sell emails addresses, such as Focus on the Family, which measn others do sell them.
