    Good evening -

We read more of the traditional Jewish Law tonight in Leviticus. Again, some of these laws are to preserve the people, such as the laws against incest. Some of the laws are against pagan practices, such as child sacrifice. Some of the laws are basic morality, such as inter-family sex. Some of the laws are unique to the Jews such as 19:27, which Orthodox Jews still observe to this day.
This must have been some meeting on Mount Sinai!

In Matthew we read the parable of the workers in the Vineyard. Please correct me if I am wrong, but the point I glean from this story is that it doesn't matter when you accept Christ in life. Your reward will be the same. This parable is similar to the parable of the prodigal son. The workers who were hired earlier in the day as well as the son who never left home demand an explanation as to why their longer term of service is not rewarded more fully. Christ reminds them that it is not "the first" who make the rules. It is the Master. Coincidentally, the payment of the workers at the end of the day was covered in our reading of Exodus 19:13 tonight.

I am really enjoying this part of our reading of Acts. It reads like an adventure story. Even Luke, who is penning this story seems a bit despairing in verse 20. Paul never loses confidence and the Holy Spirit continues working through him even at their darkest moment. They are not out of the woods yet, nor have they hit bottom, but it is their destiny to make it to Rome!
By the way, Acts only has 28 chapters. [IMG]

    May God bless you
