I play both but enjoy playing fiddle more than violin. I have to admit, though, if I'm locked up in my room all alone I can get lost in a concerto. :D Why do y'all like fiddle better? I like to listen to good fiddlers but ones that... well, are not so good, kinda get on my nerves. ;) [IMG]

I guess I choose violin, because I love classical music better.

Do any of you play? I love to play both fiddle and classical. I have to try out for regionals in January, I think it is January, and I am NOT looking forward to it- tougher competition. [IMG] I have only been playing about 4 years and I knew absolutely NOTHING when I started. I had no ear whatsoever. It is a good thing that I REALLY wanted to learn b/c I had nothing else to keep going on. I don't know why I wanted to learn, I had heard fiddle once and don't even know what style of fiddle it was, who it was or anything. I g2g eat so I'll finish later. ;)

Yeah, so as I was saying... [IMG] I, of course, didn't know the difference between fiddle and violin so I ended up taking violin lessons. I didn't enjoy it and the only reason why I practiced was b/c I wanted to learn. Hmm, that sounds like a contradiction. Well, if you don't understand you'll just have to ignore that last statement. [IMG] Yeah, so anyway, to make a long story short [IMG] I've been playing fiddle for 1 year. I went to my first contest in February after I had been playing for 3 months and I got 2nd place!! :D I have had lessons about 2 1/2 years out of the 4 that I've been playing and I LOVE to play! I LOVE to listen to good fiddle music and well, yes, violin music too! [IMG]

For those who don't know the difference between a fiddle and a violin, there is no difference. [IMG] It is just the style.

Violin is classical, orchestra, concertos, ect.
Fiddle is country, bluegrass, hoe-downs, ect.
