I couldn't have said that better myself. I absolutely agree. But I do enjoy debating with you when you try to remain objective.

That verse cannot be talking about the KJV, since it didn't exist then.
But let's put the monkey on your back.
You made the statement.... Prove that verse applys to the KJV whatever version only!

Slambo:The Lord puts His word above His name......Look @ Psalm 138:2..That's Bible!!!!!!!!!

No, it's a versional rendering. It SHOULD read, "along with His name".

Again, thank you for your sucinct example of a typical MVer's Bible study techniques. I'm sorry guys. I just can't go there. If it says it, I believe it. If it doesn't make sense, I study by comparing scripture with scripture.

"No doctrine is affected!" (Except the ones I want to be affected.)

The Hebrew reads ki higdalta al col shimcha, imrathecha.

Sorry, Robycop, but your translation just won't work. The best we can do is "For you have magnified Your name and Your word over all," or, "on every occasion."

Lacy </font>[/QUOTE]Yes, we do. Every single extant Hebrew manuscript reads exactly the same in this verse. Therefore "the Hebrew" is the correct term. And, the languages God inspried His word in is my final authority. Those inspired words never change, unlike your final authority which has gone through 28 editions and at least 4 major revisions. God inspired my final authority but men translated yours. 1 Corinthians 2:5 "That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men (to translate), but in the power of God (to inspire).

How can a language be your final authority?
I've not been in this section for a while, but are you really saying you have a final authority that has never changed? I've never heard anyone but a KJVO claim that before. What are the "words" that you take as your final authority (especially for the NT)? This is a serious question.

    Thanks Scanwmatos,

That's interesting - my understanding of what non-KJVOs keep saying is that we can't be sure which words are actually the inspired words of God, since only the originals were without error, and we don't have them now. Where are the unchanging, unrevised words that are your final authority? It's a genuine question. [IMG]

If you don't think we have those words you don't believe in preservation. It would be a very foolish God who inspired His word to mankind then allowed it to be lost.
As I said before, in the Hebrew and Greek apographs and texts.

First, you learn to read Hebrew and Greek. As soon as you have done that we can continue the discussion.

Ed: "we are then each a final authority
    unto ourselves"

    Lacy Evans: "I respectfully disagree."

There is nothing here to disagree with.
My statement is an observation of fact,
i'm not debating relative opinions of theory,m I'm
    stating a simple objective fact.

I.E. i even agree, the Bible is the
    most pratical and theoritical Final
    Authority.

Is God going to Judge Final Authority Jesus? NO
Is God going to Judge Final Authority Bible? NO
Is God going to Judge Final Authority
    ourselves? YES

Lacy already answered "we are then each a final authority unto ourselves" when yhou, Lacy Evans, said to another matter: "I absolutely agree." for what you agreed to was "we are then each a final authority unto ourselves"

Try studying the Hebrew for yourself, or, ask any Jew proficient in Hebrew.

And now you're beginning to parrot Will Kinney's "final authority" nonsense.

Sounds as if YOUR final authority is a group of 47 long-dead Anglican officials, including an ARCHBISHOP.

I'm asking a genuine question. I really want to know where my final authority should be. I can see problems with the KJVO position, though I lean heavily towards it at the moment. Then I read your post that said you had the very words of God as your final authority - that they had never been revised etc. So I would genuinely like to know where those words are. And as for reading Hebrew and Greek, why are you telling me I should spend years of study before you'll tell me where the real final authority is? This is genuinely a big issue for me, and I would like to know. The non-KJVOs seem to laugh KJVOnlyism to scorn, but at least the KJVOs are honest in telling us what they think the final authority is (or at least they have been in my experience). Please - this is not a trick question, and I don't want an argument - will you tell me what your final authority is? Then at least I can consider it against the other possibilities?

    Many thanks.
