Shucks, I started a thead to offer a little praise to Americans for their president and got deleted! I hate to think what might happen to this thread further "advertising" those "abominable" Obama saintly candles.............:saint: Just think, we had Obama cookies, Obamatails (a takeoff from our famous Beavertails, Obama snow ball (a snowman (Obama) inside a glass ball that snows when you shake it), life size Obama images all along the parade route, and then he sat down to lunch with a twice-born evangelical prime minister who prayed before eating,,,,,,,Lord help us from the attackers..........

How do I shake my head in here?

    Cheers,

    Jim

When you use the term "blaspheme" in regards to the President, then you are equating him with a deity since "blaspheme" means "To speak of (God or a sacred entity) in an irreverent, impious manner." Sorry. I never called him "messiah" but I've heard others refer to him as such (supporters of President Obama during the election) and I do think there is a messiah-like following with him, unfortunately. People are looking to him to solve their problems and he just can't do that. Reality will set in soon, unfortunately. Is he satan? No. Is he the antichrist? I don't think so - but he's certainly not going to be a savior.

Are you quite sure that these candles are not being bought by Obama's followers?

Ann, you should read more carefully. I say it is blasphemous to God to call the President, or any man, messiah. I have only seen his detractors refer to the President this way, not his supporters. Can you supply evidence otherwise?

I remember seeing videos of followers of then presidential candidate Obama speak of such. I don't have the strength, honestly, to go searching for it. I'm apparently preparing for a long night with a sick child (my 8 year old is suddenly sneezing and coughing a LOT - I think I'll need the nebulizer tonight - :( )

I think you just provided the evidence yourself with your candles.

That might be for England (the Oxford Dictionary) - I used the American Heritage Dictionary. So in America, he was wrong. :D

WingNut Daily is not a credible source of anything except the lunacy of some righties. The second is a blog that I can't tell if it is parody or not. But even if not, there are nut cases all over the place.

Thanks for the prayers for my little guy. I feel so bad when my kids are sick. :(

Sorry Ann, you are mistaken. Read my reply to your first post. I said it was blasphemous to God, not Obama. BTW..AH definition:

An irreverent or impious act, attitude, or utterance in regard to something considered inviolable or sacrosanct. ETYMOLOGY:Middle English blasfemie, from Late Latin blasph[IMG]mia, from Greek blasph[IMG]mi[IMG], from blasph[IMG]mein, to blaspheme. See blaspheme.

Here's a little recent events information on this subject:

Farrakhan on Obama: 'The Messiah is absolutely speaking'

Farrakhan seemed to believe Obama is absolutely the Messiah. I'm not sure how he reconciles this heresy to the real Messiah. I wonder if he still thinks this way?

Of course, friends, this is a World Net Daily article so that will get instant discredit by some of you. I couldn't easily find a report by ABC, CBS, or NBC on this. Maybe they didn't consider it important?

Regardless, the reference "messiah" in lower case and quotations perhaps used by some conservatives indicate they certainly don't consider Obama to be the real Messiah and, instead, show disdain for the use of such a term by Obama's supporters.
