Our Little Marxist Dictator broke the law, not giving Congress 30 days' notice regarding what should at this point still be a "pending trade," giving the men and women of the two houses' intelligence committees on The Hill time to remark to the administration that it wasn't a good idea.

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Michigan), chair of House Intelligence, made an excellent point on Fox & Friends this morning, that these same men and women the LMD thought were too loose-lipped to be trusted with information about "so sensitive a trade" were entrusted with information regarding the pending operation that took out Osama bin Laden a little over three years ago.

So essentially, as PB said, this administration is filled with liars who do nothing but lie. I believe they actively engage in hiding the fact that we have essentially lost our democracy and are now a dictatorship.

It looks like this guy us a traitor. Regardless we should never leave an American on the battlefield. However, we should not be negotiating with terrorists. Ever!

I feel very sorry for the remaining US (and UK) personnel in Afghanistan, whose safety has just become that little bit more compromised as a result of this...

The soldiers father is a muslim. The soldier is a terrorist sympathizer and likely a muslim convert as well.

I wonder if Obama would have been so eager to trade for a Christian? More to the point, would the soldier still be alive if he was a Christian?

This whole deal smells of desertion , treason, and islamic terrorist sympathizers in the white house.

This is absolutely the worst part of the whole story. These are the guys we released in order to get back a soldier who is at best a deserter and at worst something far more sinister -- but not as sinister as this collection of terrorists.

    • Mohammad Fazl, the former Taliban defense minister during the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, chief of staff of the Taliban army, and commander of its 22nd Division. According to a U.S. Department of Defense document obtained by Wikileaks, Fazl is believed to be an associate of Supreme Taliban Commander Mullah Omar and was “wanted by the UN for possible war crimes including the murder of thousands of Shiites,” surrendered to the Northern Alliance commander Gen. Dostum in November 2001.
“Detainee is assessed to be a HIGH risk, as he is likely to pose a threat to the US, its interests, and allies,” his Guantanamo detainee file reads. “If released, detainee would likely rejoin the Taliban and establish ties with ACM [anti-coalition militia] elements participating in hostilities against US and Coalition forces in Afghanistan.”
    • Mullah Norullah Noori, a former Taliban military commander and Taliban governor of two Afghan provinces, who led Taliban forces against U.S. and coalition troops and was also “wanted by the United Nations (UN) for possible war crimes including the murder of thousands of Shiite Muslims” as Fazl was, according to Noori’s Guantanamo prisoner file as obtained and posted by Wikileaks. He is also believed to be associated with Supreme Taliban Commander Mullah Omar.
Noori commanded the Taliban in the northern city of Mazar e-Sharif. Like Fazl, he surrendered to Gen. Dostum in 2001.

Rated a “HIGH” threat to U.S. security interests if released, Noori is or was associated with members of al Qaeda, the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, and Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin.
    • Mohammed Nabi, another senior Taliban official with ties to al Qaeda, the Haqqani Network, Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin, and other anti-U.S., Taliban-allied groups, according to his Guantanamo Bay file as posted by Wikileaks.
Also rated as a “HIGH” security threat if released, Nabi fought with the mujahideen against the Soviets. After that, he told the Americans who captured and detained him, he was an off-and-on Taliban member in the early 2000s, worked for the chief of the Taliban’s Border Department, which controlled smuggling. In early spring of 2002, he left the Taliban to sell used cars in a small village near Khowst and became a CIA informant.

According to his Defense Dept. file, Nabi was involved in attacks against U.S. and coalition forces and facilitated smuggling routes for the Taliban and al Qaeda.
    • Khairullah Khairkhwa, a direct associate of Osama bin Laden according to his Defense Dept. detainee file obtained by Wikileaks, and a senior Taliban military commander who also served as the Taliban’s minister of Interior and the governor of Herat.
He represented the Taliban at meetings with Iranian officials seeking to support actions against U.S. and coalition forces after the Sept. 11 attacks, according to the document. He attended a meeting at the direction of bin Laden, reportedly accompanied by members of Hamas, the document says, and is believe to have been one of the major opium lords of western Afghanistan.

In 2002, he sought to negotiate an integration into the new government through Wali Karzai, the brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai who has been accused of corruption and drug smuggling, but was arrested by Pakistani border patrol and released by Pakistan into U.S. custody.

He is also deemed a “HIGH” threat if released.
    • Abdul Haq Wasiq, the Taliban’s former deputy minister of intelligence, had direct connections to Taliban leadership and was “central to the Taliban’s efforts to form alliances with other Islamic fundamentalist groups” to fight against U.S. and coalition forces, according to his Defense Dept. file obtained by Wikileaks.
He also used his position to support al Qaeda, assist Taliban personnel in eluding capture, and arranged for al Qaeda members to train Taliban intelligence staff, according to the file.

He seems to have later turned informant, as his file notes that Wasiq was arrested after a meeting with two Americans and a translator, in which he was supposed to deliver information leading to the capture of Mullah Omar. Shortly after the meeting, U.S. forces arrested him.

Almost vomited watching his father speak and reading his followup tweets about the poorvAfghsns missing their loved ones. He should be left alone in a room with loved ones of the 9/11 attack.

    I didn't FORGET....

And he should face the full force of such laws according to Artciale 85 of the UCMJ. To be seen as a hero and welcomed home as one, is a disgrace!

We can agree on things

    Shocking?

I had to double check and make sure the parents were in fact from militia rich Idaho. The manner in which the father spoke, reminded me of UC Berkley, San Francisco peace-niks, plus dad even looked like a throw back to the Height-Ashbury hippie community

The smirk on Obama's face and his head shaking in agreement. He is getting downright bold about it these days.

More like the Taliban with whom he sympathizes. He's openly and actively supported the Taliban, and has posted conversations with a Taliban political operative on his Twitter account. That man is at the very least guilty of giving aid and comfort to the enemy, and may be -- as is his son -- a traitor.

I wasn't aware his father was doing that .... one more reason to put an ugly end to an Obama bright moment!

WOW! The more we know the uglier this thing gets. Did anyone hear Harry Reid talking about how the GOP is hurting efforts to release the Gitmo detainees and how wrong it is. He was gleeful about these five terrorists being released. We get little Barry O taking the law into his own hands and disregarding the Constitution (as usual) and his henchman Reid coming along after congratulating him. REALLY"""

How can any Mother & Father with a good conscience encourage their son or daughter to now join the military?

IMPEACH! IMPEACH! But no one will?

Listened to an interview on the BBC news last night with a guy from the same regiment as Bergdahl. he gist of what he said is as follows: whilst the release in some way has brought closure for him, he wants to know why the guy wandered off in the first place and why his unit and others wasted six weeks - and a few lives - looking intensively for him. He and his colleagues in his regiment have carried a sense of guilt - wrongly - around for nearly five years now, he said, not helped by some parts of the media parroting the myth that Bergdahl had been 'left behind' on the battlefield by them. A court martial with a finding of desertion would bring proper closure for them all, even if the sentence was to treat his captivity as 'time served' (if indeed he was genuinely captive); I got the impression he didn't particularly want the guy punished, just wanted it confirmed legally that he has deserted and why he did what he did. It was a very measured and dignified response IMO.

The way I see it: if (as seems likely) it is shown that he did just wander off (ie: desert) with some hare-brained idea of 'walking to China or India' , then he did the wrong thing which cost lives and for which he should be legally held to account. It seems that Obama also did the wrong thing and thus should also be held legally to account.

I will have to disagree with that. Bergdahl knew exactly what he was doing. He studied the terrain and knew there was a high improbability of him being able to walk to India or China without encountering bad boys.
He got information from the ANF on the locations and possible areas of the Taliban.
    He prepared for 'the day'.
He walked straight into their waiting arms.
I suspect he had a welcoming committee of the enemy waiting for him.
He was a guest, not a POW, from day one.
How do I know this ?
Because his head is still on his shoulders after the fact that to most Talibans he is an enemy combatant, and not only that, he is an American, and they, the Talibans, would cut off the head of a fellow muslim, man or woman, related or not, with delight, for any factual or conceived offense.

He should either be jailed with maximum sentence, or executed for treason.
but I'm no military judge, so they'll probably give him a slap in the hand and then pin a medal on him for, as in the words of Ambassaddor overcooked Rice, serving distinctively.

Nothing is going to happen to him the President and his cronies have dubbed him a hero. No one will touch him after that.

If that happens - then Obama has a responsibilty to give a full pardon (with back pay) to Bobby Garwood.
