Unless you are experienced and known in your area it may help to get under the leadership of your pastor. He will learn your heart. Most pastors have fellowship meetings they attend periodically which is where you will find a way of getting your name passed around.You might start out by being available for pulpit supply.

 

I can sorta' speak from expreince here. Don't move a muscle without asking our Father if He wants you to pastor a church (rite now), then if He wants you to move believe me He'll open the doors! Done learned about tryin' to open them myself. Guess thats why they say patience is a virtue!

 

Truthfully men should not be on staff in churches if they have to wait around for a job. The world is going to hell and there are so many who need to hear the gospel and be discipled, it is staggering. The man who has the same vison of Christ's command do not have enough hours in a day to hardly scratch the surface of the work which must be done. The harvest in plentiful. The laborers are few. There is a huge harvest out there. But there are also few laborers.

Your statement reminds me of a man in a Bible study I led who once complained about that he was not around Christians. He was complaining to God then he started witnessing to the workers and found he had so much to do when he found out many of them wanted to be in a Bible study and most of them became Christians. One day he was complaining then next he had fellowship all over.

Both myself and another young man complained that there were few Christians in the dorm. When we stopped complaining and started praying 80 students became Christians that year. That dorm had the greatest number of Christians by the end of that year than any other dorm on campus.

Just a few years ago I had moved and prayed that I would meet people who wanted to grow. Within six months I met 20 people I led each week in Bible study. Not one of them were doing anything in any church. They were needing someone to help them grow.
