Does your church have fire drills?

Tonight, a local church school caught on fire. The school is on the same campus as the church. There were Friday evening services going on in the church bldg, when the school fire broke out. latest report, no injuries. It was the
LIVING WORD CHURCH that caught on fire.

So, would folks be able to excape from a fire in your church?

Our church is so small it wouldn't be no problem. But shame on me, here I am a volunteer fire fighter and low and behold... I never thought of a church having a fire drill.

Glad to here there were no injuries in the church fire.

Even a small church building could be a problem. Small children could hide in a closet or other small room, and the results could be tragic.

"No need to" - does not meet my situation - "never thought of it" is more accurate - so I clicked "other" !!!

We have a formal drill once a year as a church. We also have a school, so they have them once a month.

I know we work closely with the fire marshalls.

Just last year, after an over-enthusiastic Sunday school breakfast, our fire/smoke alarms went off, causing some quick evacuation plans.

Since then we have upgraded our warning systems and changed the batteries in every emergency exit.
    Exits are clearly marked.

We also once had a bomb threat during a Sunday service years ago (turned out to be a prank).

This brings to mind the story of a fire alarm going off in my church years ago. The thing blared during the sermon (of all things) and the Pastor wasn't the least bit perturbed. Over the scream of the alarm, he asked the congregation: "If that was the call for the return of Christ, are you saved? Would you be in heaven right now???" Very interesting moment! (Turns out the alarm was false)
