Actually, I don't know if the problem is with the software or just my computer. Let me explain the problem.

Recently, and I still don't know how it happened, all my cookies that were used on Firefox were deleted. All my saved screen names for the various forums I post in, and their related passwords just went "POOF!!" Now, when I try to sign back on to any of the sites, nothing happens when I click the 'sign-in' or 'log-on' buttons. It just sits there like it's waiting for me to do something when I already have clicked it.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what was the solution? Right now I'm accessing all my forums through AOL's browser, but I'd much prefer Firefox.

Any hints, tips, suggestions and/or solutions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, and God Bless!!!

Rebooting if you haven't, otherwise I'd probably reinstall it. (I'm assuming you have signed into all these sites before with firefox.)

Firefox has some limitations on the sites it will open but have not heard of your particular problem before.

Go to tools/options/privacy and make the box for cookies is checked. Microsoft updates tend to mess with settings of programs now and then. Don't know if they get into firefoxes or not.

Click Tools, Extensions, Get More Extensions. Look for and download "CookieCuller". Once you install it, it will be an option in the Tool drop-down menu. Use it to set protection of the cookies you don't want to lose... just be sure to clear out your cookies using CookieCuller and not the Clear button on Options.

While you're getting extensions, check out BBCodeXtra. It adds all kinds of bulletin board codes to your right click menu. I couldn't live without it.

Your passwords and such are stored in a separate heading under Options in the Tools menu. Possibly you or someone else deleted them? Have you checked to see if they are still there?

You may also want to check the settings on your firewall, as they can cause some really weird internet behavior sometimes.

    Trotter

I couldn't open my junk mail folder, one of the techs at my ISP recommended I switch from Internet Explorer to Firefox. I don't remember the reason he gave why the switch would work.

Now I'm able to open my junk mail folder. Opening it is necessary to delete junk mail and virus infections.

From time to time I've switched back to IE to test opening junk mail but it's still no go.

It's no big deal, I like Firefox. My wife likes IE, she wont use FF. She's just stubborn.

Trotter, I checked out Tools, Extensions, Get more Extensions. I couldn't find CookieCuller,
can you tell me where I got lost?

    In Him,
    Bruce

Well guys, thanks for all the comments and suggestions, but unfortunately nothing seemed to help. I even went so faras to totally remove the program and then did a re-install and still had the same results.

I guess this is a case of "Oh well..." I'll use firefox for what I can and the aol browser for the rest.

Once again, thanks for trying. I appreciate the suggestions and comments.

    God Bless!!!

If you have the information in another browser you might try FILE - IMPORT (in firefox) and see if firefox will pick them up.

    Here's a thought, Adam.

Click Tools, Options, Privacy, click the "+" in front of Cookies. Make sure you have the "Allow sites to set cookies" box checked, and that you have selected Keep Cookies: until they expire.

    Hope that helps.

    Trotter

Thanks for the info Trotter, but unfortunately that didn't work either.

I'm at my wit's end here, ready to say the heck with it.

One last thought... Do you have your cookies blocked, like through your firewall?
