Footnotes Of The NLTse

I will give a smattering of alternative footnote renderings in the NLTse version which are not in the actual text now . In the future some footnote renderings may indeed be moved to the text while the current text wording will be relagated to the footnotes . It's happened with the changeover in the NIV to TNIV on a limited scale .
I won't give examples where the Greek text equivalents are in the FT's . And sometimes as many as 3 or more different alternatives are listed . I'll just give one in my sampling for you all .

I'll start with the book of Romans . I will not be exhaustive , just some examples will be cited . The alternative will be at the top and the actual text wording will be below . See what you think is superior . Which one is more literal ? ( And that would necessarily be the superior rendering . ) .

1:4a and was designated

Yeah , the phrase "day of visitation" wouldn't mean much to many readers . It sounds quite benign . But the phrase " judges the world " brings it on home .
