In another thread, Heavens Dad is asking Republicans for whom they will vote in the Rep Primary. He has graciously asked if you are not voting in the R primary - to not vote in his poll or to comment.

I will respect his wishes. Therefore I have started this poll for those who will not be voting in HD poll.

IF THE PRIMARY OR CAUCUS WERE HELD TODAY,

if you could vote - who do you think should win?
and please indicate why you will not be voting in the R primary.

Please keep your posts short - no long dissertations

Please note that my poll is identical to HD and I am asking that those voting in HD poll not vote in this one.

HD, we make a great team don't we! :1_grouphug:

I am a registered Conservative - thus I will not be able to vote in the NY Rep primary.

Normally the NY Conservative Party will endorse the Rep nominee- but they do have the option of putting a different candidate up.

    We'll see what will happen

Keep in mind that as the primary season progresses there may be reasons to vote for someone other than your preferred candidate. So an answer today might not be the same answer next March.

Example: Let's say you are a Ron Paul supporter and you live in Oklahoma. Supposing it becomes obvious that Ron Paul is not going to get the nomination. He did not win in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida, Arizona, or Michigan. Now here comes Super Tuesday and in Oklahoma there is a closed primary and it is winner take all format. State polls show Romney and Gingrich are deadlocked. It so happens that you're not wild about Gingrich but you cannot stand Mittens. You hear through contacts in the Republican Party that there is a movement afoot to get all people leaning toward other candidates besides Newt and Mittens to vote for Newt and deny Romney Oklahoma's delegates to the RNC. In this case a Ron Paul supporter might vote for Gingrich instead.

I'm in Minnesota. We have closed caucuses, not a primary. The caucuses only take a non-binding straw poll vote for President, thus I won't be voting in Minnesota's 'primary'. If I were voting on ideology only, it would probably be for Santorum, but he has no chance of beating Obama. If I were voting for someone that can beat Obama, it would probably be Mittens.

Voting for who I would like, either Howard Dean or Dennis Kucinich...but no chance of even defeating the imcumbent, therefore I will vote for President Obama.

In the best Chicago tradition I see that Ruiz has voted in the "For those voting in the Republican primary" thread AND voted in "For those NOT voting in the "R" primary".

I would hope that nobody here on the BB would vote for a Democrat, (abortion, gay marriage, ect)

    Are those Christian morals?

I was clear & part of the OP is why are you not voting in the actual "R" primary. I explained in post # 2 why I can not vote in the R primary
The purpose of this thread was for those who could not vote in Heavens Dad poll.

    (note - bold my emphasis)

I have no problem with someone having a happy marriage - now, if you are talking about homosexual marriage....

I normally try to vote for the candidate with the most Christian values, but in this case i don't know that there are any.

And I sure would not normally vote for a Mormon, but I think Romney is the only one that can beat Obama, and I'd rather have ANYBODY besides Obama.
