I wonder how many people on the board are foster parents, and how many children they've had. We've had 9, and have 2 presently (hoping to adopt them). We also have one biological child, and one on the way. (Ages 14, 15mos, 7mos, and unborn)

    Wow,
I have been thinking lately about going into Foster Parenting when I'm older. How do you get started?

my home is a foster home(I'm my parents child by birth... but I am their only one... so they have lots of room)

we started 3 years ago ... and have had 2 so far

one for 2 years... and then the most recent(who is still with us)...

  5. My parents are foster parents. Currently we have 2; a 10 day old and a 3 year old. I am the oldest and sometimes it is really hard to cope with such a different "non-common" (as some people call it) family. All of my brothers and sisters are adopted and so am I. I was never a foster kid but all of my brothers and sisters were. I have a brother that is 12 and 2 sisters that are 8 and 9. I am 13.

    Hi All,
I used to teach Sunday School for a family who fostered "difficult" children. They had two boys about 10 and 7 years old, and I always was amazed by them.
The boys had ADD on top of other things and by the end of a lesson I was exhausted from trying to keep their interest in the lesson...it was especially rewarding when it *did* get through though! [IMG]
    Hugs,

All children can be difficult, and those are my favorite kinds.
