    Morning Barnabas!

We have had tornado warnings here in IL, with severe wind and rain, but the actual tornadoes missed us. I called Bob right away, in KS Sunday night, when I heard what the weather was doing there and couldn't get through (that made my heart skip a beat), as well as in TN, and MO. I finally reached him yesterday (Monday). They were all around his area, but they missed him. PTL!

I read in our local paper that a couple were celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary at church when a tornado hit this past Sunday. There was a picture of the 'groom' was standing in front of a flattened church building. Their home had also been destroyed; but miraculously, no one attending church was hurt.

    Ain't God good?

Thanks,Barnabas! I've read that before, but it was definitely worth reading again.

I think I've been struggling with sadness more than usual lately because of my dad's illness. But there is still so much to be thankful for.

Besides, the SUN IS SHINING in Northern Illinois today!!! [IMG] [IMG]

Diane, how is Jim's job situation coming along? Did he land a good one yet? [IMG]

I Am Blessed 16, that must have been some 50th Anniversary Celebration! A miracle they can talk about until their Diamond Anniversary... [IMG]

Cindy, our love and prayers are with your dear Mom, who must be so courageous, supportive, and comforting to your Dad. [IMG]

Thanks for the good report that the SON is shining in Northern Illinois! [IMG]

The SON is shining in central and southern IL, but the SUN is not and doesn't look like it is going to for the rest of the week!

Four counties in IL had more tornadoes last night, killing two more people and injuring nine. MO was hard hit too, especially De Soto.

I think that brings the death toll to 35 from tornadoes in a four state area just this week. I heard on the news this morning that 50 tornadoes had been reported in these areas in the last 24 hours alone!

We are still waiting in the "Coffee Shop", (Other Discussions Forum), to hear from a poster in a hard hit area, ExxonMobile (Jimmy). Sherrie has tried calling, but just keeps getting the recording, "all circuits busy". They have been without electricity and phone lines for awhile now. We have all been praying for his safety along with all the others in harms way.

    Blessings,
    Sue

Sue, thanks for the update! BTW, the area the tornados touched down since Sunday evening, are generally called "tornado alley?" Or this is a new and heretofore uncharted territory? [IMG]

Jim just got in but had called me earlier with the good news! He got the job! It's with a large rep firm out of Atlanta. He'll cover Mississippi, Alabama, Florida panhandle and part of Georgia. The guaranteed salary is half what our bills are but he'll get commission on top of that and INSURANCE STARTS THE FIRST DAY! That is a wonderful blessing! I still have to have a crown put on that bad tooth and haven't had a check up in 8 years next week!

Get this, Barnabas, the guy who recommended Jim for the job is a Jewish fella who is also a nudist. LOL! Couldn't be any more different than us! LOL!

First and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS Diane for Jim getting a job! Isn't it great to see the things unfold, as the Lord has led him all this time?

BTW, I beg your pardon, but I think I am a great deal different than that Jewish nudist fellow. [IMG] Now as I see it, the way Jim got this job proves that our great God must have a great sense of humor! So, how about witnessing to this man?! [IMG]

    Diane,that's awesome about Jim's job!

The part about the Jewish nudist reminded me of something I heard on "Conan O'Brien." Of course I don't endorse everything Conan says, but this gave me a good laugh.

He mentioned that the talk show host,Jenny Jones, was ending her show (which is one of those shocking, nasty ones.) Conan said something like,"Jenny said it's time to quit...she just isn't getting the same quality of albino Nazi's that she used to." :D

    LOL Cindy and Barnabas!

Jim went to a 'trade show' in Nevada a couple of years ago and this guy had asked if he'd like to save on costs by sharing a hotel room and rental car. He didn't bother to tell Jim he doesn't wear clothes when he's inside. LOL... I've teased Jim since then that he's going to leave me for Walt.

Barnabas, the guy will call here and I had asked him to pray about Jim's job situation. He said he would and then starting networking for us! It helps that my grandfather was Jewish. What I haven't told Walt... YET..... is that my grandfather, Fred Ward, became a Christian before I was born and was one of the most devout and Godly men I've ever known. The other one was my Papaw Weldy.

I think we might see some SUN today! Yea!!! [IMG]

Barnabas...I thank you for the rose...but I would like to quickly remind you of the rules for posting images. They should be no bigger than the Baptistboard logo. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Sorry Barnabas...I was just playing around. [IMG]

Thank you Barnabas! That was very sweet [IMG]

Hehe, I had to look twice at the size of the rose, too, Sherrie. Then saw it was The Boss Guy who put it there.

    Awww thanks! Barnabus. It's beautiful

Sherrie, please accept my humble appologies. You are so right! The picture should not be larger than the BB logo. Now I see that I forgot to lay down the rose. It would not have been larger than the logo - if it lays down on the floor. Next time I will be a better example in posting roses to ladies on Mother's Day... [IMG] [IMG]

By the way, how are these? Would these fit into the BB logo image size?

I see, I have been away from the thread for a couple of days and have some catching up to do... [IMG]

I Am Blessed 16, I feel embarrassed that it had to be a lady wishing the other ladies, Moms, a Happy Mother's Day. But I am glad you did not only got one but two roses yesterday, and one from none other but one of our distinguished Administrators, Clint! ;)

Sherrie, you have a pair of good eyes, and an equally great sense of humor to match it - for having caught the picture oversize. [IMG]

Purple Lady, Carolyn, did you refer to the boss of the BaptistBoard.com? Well, his name happens to be also Barnabas, but those of us who know him personally do refer to him as the younger of the two. Incidentally, you have misspelled his name (and also mine) - but don't panic, most people do on the first run. They know it better the second time around (for I point it out to them). [IMG]

Diane, I hope that Jim treated you royally for Mother's Day!

Our Mother's Day started early in the morning. Our younger daughter Cathy called us up and informed us that their automobile insurance accidentally expired, and it is going to be a month on the 14th. The insurance company they had, allowed the policy to laps and did not notify them. To make the long story short, they were desperately looking for another insurance company over the Net, and after that in their local community. Several brokers told them that they considered them a risk and asked for over $4,000.00 for the whole year for their two cars (one is a van), and wanted it up front. At last they found one which asked for $3,650.00. Since my son-in-law is working part-time (and full time in the seminary to finish his Master of Divinity studies), they did not have that kind of money to dish out. And here we came for the rescue.

We have our church sermon at 12:30 PM (after the Presbyterians finish service in their church, which we rent), and ends at 1:30 PM (sometimes longer, if our Preacher is a little bit long winded - but he is a great preacher, so we do not mind). After the service we picked up our older daughter, Elizabeth (who is not married), and my dear wife of 36 years, Lenke and I were driving out to the country. Our son-in-law already took out Cathy and the three kids, Tori (6), Noah (4), and Micah (1) for lunch on Mother's Day. When we arrived at 3:30 PM to our country house, they were already home. As we pulled in to the driveway, the grandkids were running out to greet us. They literally jump into our necks. Little Micah was standing by the door, holding on to the side. He can walk a few steps, but is not initiating it yet. But he was OK-ing from the entrance to us. That's the only word he uses for everything. I was the one who thought it to him, and now his whole conversation is a series of OKs. He is so cute as he tells you things, and everything sounds like OK!

We had a great time with our kids and grandkids, and since Lenke brought some real home cooked food from home, we had our late lunch. The grandkids tasted a mouthful of Grandma's cooking (which they love), including Micah. He cannot be left out from anything. He positioned next to his Grandma and opened his mouth like a small bird. Naturally Grandma dropped some great tasting morsels in there from time to time. At 5:00 PM we headed back to the Big Apple, to be able to attend our evening service. Traffic was a little heavier, due to the Mother's Day event. But was able to reach our church in Elmsford (which is about 25 miles North of the Big Apple). We had even 5 minutes to spare before service began. So, as you see, we had a full day's activities... but it was a very nice event. Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day! [IMG]
