Well, I like him. I do not agree with everything that he preaches, but he really does preach the Word of God.

I have a reference book of his "Walking in God's Word (through His promises)" in which he quotes scriptures for any problems that we may have. This book has been a blessing and encouragement to me for ten years. One particular Chapter I needed was "The Fruit of Love"

For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:17.

Now this book is not a commentary, but a grouping of scriptures with very little words from Rev. Price.

I will quote one thing written in this book by Frederick K. C. Price, Ph.D. that is very important:

"In order to benefit from God's promised blessings, one must first become a child of God by receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Without taking this first step to salvation, it is impossible to walk in His promises or be able to take advantage of all that God has provided for His children though His Word"

"Faith comes by Hearing and Hearing by the Word of God"

He's basically a "health, wealth, prosperity, name-it, claim-it" preacher. Here's a quote from Fred Price that is completely unbiblical:

"...But God has to be given permission to work in this earth realm on behalf of man...Yes! You are in control! So if man has control, who no longer has it? God...When God gave Adam dominion, that meant God no longer had dominion. So God cannot do anything in this earth unless we let Him. And the way we let Him or give Him permission is through prayer." (Hank Hanegraaff, "Christianity in Crisis," page 85. Fred Price, "Prayer: Do You Know What Prayer Is…and How to Pray?" The Word Study Bible, 1178)

This is just one example. According to Fred Price, God is a powerless puppet. Based on this one example, would we listen to someone like this?

I think I'd have to agree with Thankful, who said:
And I get so tired of hearing this about (what seems like) every preacher who can be seen on TV:
Because to me, the opposite of this would be a "sickness, poverty, just-because-it's-in-the-Bible-doesn't-mean-it's-for-you preacher".

Don't get me wrong. I know what the complaints are with the "health, wealth, name-it, claim-it" preachers. I know that prosperity is not a sign of Godliness. I know it's wrong to give in order to get.

But, praise God, there's nothing in the Bible that tells me that God wants me to be poor and sick. In fact, it tells me the opposite. And, like it or not, it says that death and life are in the power of the tongue. It IS important what you say and what you confess.

You can say "Lord, if it be thy will, I would like to be healed of this cancer". As for me, I'd say "Lord, your Word says that by His stripes I WAS healed. (1 Peter 2:24) Thank you for healing me."

It seems like anytime somebody quotes a verse from the Bible that tells us that God does want good things for us, that he DOES want us to prosper and be in good health, they get labled a heretic by somebody on this board. (I'm not just talking about Frederick K.C. Price).

    Brian30755,

According to Mr. Price, God is powerless puppet that does not do anything unless we give him permission. That is not biblical.

We're not here on earth to glorify ourselves, but to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

Based on the above quote provided by Jeffrey H, I would say that Mr. Price's theology is not right. God is Soveriegn, and the Word of God teaches that, therefore Mr. Price is indeed NOT "preaching the Word of God," as others have stated.

Seriously, the very first line in that paragraph should send chills down your spine! "God has to be given permission?????" Come on! The will of God will be done reguardless of our stance on it.

I totally agree with you on this. And I hope you don't think I was griping at you in particular.....I guess I got a little off the topic of Frederick Price.

I think I will side with Thankful here. While he is not my cup of tea, and I don't often listen to him, I don't see anything in his teachings that are outright violations of scriptural doctrine.

I do think he goes a bit overboard with his interpretations from time to time. He once commented that a black man in American cannot be a racist, since racism is something a majority purports upon a minority. However, he did clarify that a black man can and often is a bigot. I would disagree with his assertion. Anyone can be a racist and a bigot.

He also once preached that oral sex is a sin, even if it's within a marriage. He referenced scripture that had nothing to do with the topic. This, despite the fact that Song of Solomon has a few verses that describe this very act in an approving fashion.

"If it be thy will or thy will be done- if you have to say that, then your calling God a fool. What they told me to do was that whenever I prayed I should always say, 'The will of the Lord be done,' Now, doesn't that sound humble? It does. Sounds like humility, it's really stupidity. I mean, you know, really, we insult God. I mean, we really do insult our Heavenly Father. We do; we really insult Him without even realizing it. If you have to say, 'If it be thy will or Thy will be done' if you have to say that, then you're calling God a fool because he's the One that told us to ask."--Fred Price, "Ever Increasing Faith" TBN November 16,1990

"Do you think that the punishment for our sin was to die on a cross? If that were the case, the two thieves could have paid your price. No, the punishment was to go into hell itself and to serve time in hell separated from God."--Fred Price, Ever Increasing Faith Messenger June 1980

"How can you glorify God in your body, when it doesn’t function right? How can you glorify God? How can He get glory when your body doesn’t even work?...What makes you think the Holy Ghost wants to live inside of a body where He can’t see out through the windows and He can’t hear with the ears? What makes you think the Holy Spirit wants to live inside of a physical body where the limbs and the organs and the cells do not function right? ...And what makes you think He wants to live in a temple where He can’t see out of the eyes, and He can’t walk with the feet, and He can’t move with the hand?...The only eyes that He has that are in the earth realm are the eyes that are in the body. If He can’t see out of them then God’s gonna be limited. He's not going to be helped."--Fred Price, "Is God Glorified Through Sickness?" Audiotape FP605

Now this is a shocker! But God has to be given permission to work in this earth realm on behalf of man...Yes! You are in control! So if man has control, who no longer has it? God...When God gave Adam dominion, that meant God no longer had dominion. So God cannot do anything in this earth unless we let Him. And the way we let Him or give Him permission is through prayer."--Fred Price, "Prayer: Do You Know What Prayer Is…and How to Pray?" The Word Study Bible, 1178

"Adam, as I said, gave it [the earth] away to the serpent, to the Devil. As a result of it, he got his behind kicked out of the garden. He went out of Eden, out of the garden. He began to wander around, and he has troubles from day one. Now God was out of the business. God was out of the earth realm. God had no more stock in this earth realm. No more. None at all. Nothing He could do. Not a thing in the world He could do....The only way God could get back into this earth realm, He had to have an invitation. Ha-hah! He had to have an invitation. And so, God looked around--saw different men, saw Noah, saw different ones. He gave them a few instructions. They did what He said. So and so and so and so. But, finally, He got to a point where He had His plan ready for operation. And He saw a man named Abraham."--Fred Price, "Ever Increasing Faith" program on TBN 1 May 1992

"If them animals belonged to, if those animals belonged to God, how come God didn't give them their names? Why did he leave it up to a puny man to give them the names to the animal kingdom, the plant kingdom, and the vegtable kingdom? Because they belonged under the control of Adam and not of God...Why? He had dominion. Not God, Adam."--Fred Price, "Ever Increasing Faith," May 3, 1992

If you've got one-dollar faith and you ask for a ten-thousand-dollar item, it ain't going to work. It won't work. Jesus said, "according to your faith," not according to God's will for you, in His own good time, if it's according to His will, if He can work it into His busy schedule [see him mocking God and mocking the concept of God's will]. He said, "According to your faith, be it unto you." Now, I may want a Rolls Royce, and don't have but bicycle faith. Guess what I'm going to get? A bicycle."--Fred Price, "Praise The Lord," TBN, September 21, 1990

"The whole point is I'm trying to get you to see-to get you out of this malaise of thinking that Jesus and the disciples were poor and then relating that to you thinking that you, as a child of God, have to follow Jesus. The Bible says that He has left us an example that we should follow His steps. That's the reason why I drive a Rolls Royce. I'm following Jesus' steps."--Fred Price, "Ever Increasing Faith," TBN December 19, 1990

"Medicine is not God's highest or best. There is a better way when you know how to use yor faith. When you have developed your faith to such an extent that you can stand on the promises of God, then you won't need medicine.--Fred Price, "How Faith Works," page 88

"The only reason people die before their time is because they do not undersrtand how to exercise their faith according to the Word to prevent death, or they choose to die before their time."--Fred Price, "Ever Increasing Faith Messenger," Fall 1980, page 3

"'If it be Thy will' is a badge of doubt."--Fred Price, "Petition Prayer or the Prayer of Faith," pamphlet 1991)

"If you put, 'if it be' on the end of a petition prayer, it will not be answered.--Fred Price, "What Every Believer Should Know About Prayer," page 4

"Brother Price, doesn't the Lord know what I need?" Sure, He knows. However, you are living in a hostile environment. You are living in a world presided over and governed by satanic forces. It has been purchased by Jesus, but the kingdom has not yet been established here. The Bible says Satan is the god of this age [the traditional King James calls him the god of this world], the prince of the power of the air. God has to have permission to operate in this earth realm...When we pray to the heavenly Father in the name of Jesus, and ask Him to do something, we give Him a legal right to get involved in our circumstances, and Satan cannot say a thing about it."--Fred Price, "Petition Prayer, or the Prayer of Faith," His website March Monthly Message 2005

"Some people do not understand this concept, and they think they have to end every prayer with, "If it be Your will." Used in that way, "If it be Your will" is a badge of doubt. "If it be Your will" means you do not know what God's will is. If you do not know what His will is, that has to mean you are praying in doubt. That is not a prayer of faith, and it will never work as a petition prayer."--Fred Price, "Petition Prayer, or the Prayer of Faith," His website March Monthly Message 2005

"One of these erroneous things has been for Christians to pray "The Lord's Prayer." There are many Christians today who pray this prayer. I have known of churches around the world that actually have their worship service centered around it. I will not contest the fact that it is a beautiful prayer, or that Jesus gave it for the disciples to pray, but let me suggest to you through the Word of God that "The Lord's Prayer" is really not for Christians today."--Dr. Fred Price, "Why the Lord’s Prayer Is Not for Christians Today," Weekly Message July 25-July 31, 2005. His website

I don't think it has to mention anyone specifically by name to still be insulting to that person.

I have a disabled son, and when I read that I was rather taken aback. My heart breaks for people who hear these lies from the pit of Hell and feel that God will not bless them, can not use them, and does not love them.

Did you read those words? I mean REALLY read those words.

"What makes you think the Holy Ghost wants to live inside a body where He can't see out through the windows and He can't hear with the ears? What makes you think the Holy Spirit wants to live inside of a physical body where the limbs and the organs and the cells do not function right?"

What this is saying is the handicapped need not pray to ask Jesus to come live in their heart, because He can't see/hear/walk. What total blasphemy and straight from Satan. What better way to insure hell is full than to decieve the ones crying out to God by telling them God doesn't want them.

The late great Corrie Ten Boom related the story of one of her interrigations from a German Leutinant

    German--"Tell me about your work?"

Ten Boom--"You mean with the mentally retarted?"

German--"What a waste!! How could a loving God create such waste?? How could he care??"

Ten Boom--"Perhaps he cares more for the mentally retarted than he does a Dutch watchmaker or even a German Leutenant!!"

In the portion of the quote she posted, it's not.

Unfortunately, I no longer have many of my WoF materials so I can't post it for you in context.

That's OK, though, because the question was what I thought of Fred Price, not to demonstrate anything to you.

Oh Dina, I am so sorry that you think that Dr. Price is saying that your son is of no value and that God can not use him or that he cannot pray to God.

I do not believe that Dr. Price meant this and would like to hear the entire message and his explanation or meaning.

I am just guessing, but since this is an excerpt from his message could it be that he is trying to point out that God does not want any of his children to be handicapped, but since they are, they can glorify God in their own way with their own limitations.

Have you heard the entire audio tape or read the book where he has said this?

I have heard some of Dr. Price's messages, but I do not recall ever hearing him say that any person is worthless in God's sight.
