Charles Woodbridge was a new evangelical who converted to fudamentalism. Is this accurate? And are there other known men who have also done the same?

    Thanks.

    Dr. Bob,

Do you mean "high profile" recognizable name, leader types? Or are you asking for anybody, run of the mill, everday people?

Charles Woodbridge possibly went from an Evangelical to Fundamentalist but I really don’t think so. Furthermore, I don't think he was ever really a New Evangelical because he predated the movement before aligning with the Fundamentalist camp. On the other hand, I think you can cogently argue that Charles Woodbridge was always a Fundamentalist because Charles Fuller was considered a Fundamentalist until he died and his school spearheaded New Evangelicalism. Woodbridge resigned from Fuller Seminary thereafter. Or, you may make a case that Woodbridge was Orthodox after the fashion of J. Gresham Machen until he was nudged into Fundamentalism because there was no other place for him with the rise of New Evangelicalism. What do you think?
