I have a new and high respect for you RD.

And like Ken I voted for Bush and I don't shoulder any of the blame for his failures so I don't see why I should shoulder any for Obama.

I just wish we had a black conservative instead of the liberal we got.

I would rather see Alan Keys. He is an expert on the constitution. Which is what we need in this day and age.

The Nat'l Right to Life would not support Keys due to some financial shenanigans several years back. I read a long account of it and it convinced me but I can't recall the story now.

I know I have made some sarcastic remarks. I called some"comrade" etc. For that I apologize. God's word convicted me tonight as I read from I Timothy 2. I am called to pray for all men and for those in authority over us. I'm going to be praying for my new President. It's not pleasing to God for me to be sarcastic towards President Obama. Rather, it is pleasing to God for me to pray for my leaders whether I voted for them or not.

Agreed. You have much to be proud of as America is a once again leading the world. I think something that has troubled the western world since Iraq is that America should be one of the "good guys" but has been acting more like one of the "bad guys" in many ways. It disrupts the whole sense of world order that we have been so used to since the second World War. But the Obama presidency and what it represents in terms of race, prejudice and reconciliation has given hope to the rest of the world that America still is one of the "good guys".

For all you fans of New World Order conspiracies, I see Obama as a move towards restoring an older world order where the US is seen as the world leader of the good and leading the fight against evil in this world.

I'm just trying to oversimplify why I understand global perception of the US has deteriorated over the last few years while global perception of Obama has been overwhelmingly positive.

President Bush didnt do all he could have regarding abortion, but he didn't do nothing.

    Washington Post Staff Writer
    Friday, April 29, 2005

President Bush is urging the Senate to take up a bill passed by the House this week that makes it a federal crime -- complete with possible fines and jail sentences -- for doctors or other adults to help patients under 18 evade parental-notification requirements by crossing state lines for an abortion.

White House Press Conference, November 2003
THE PRESIDENT: Thank you very much. Good afternoon. I'm pleased that all of you have joined us as the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 becomes the law of the land. (Applause.) For years, a terrible form of violence has been directed against children who are inches from birth, while the law looked the other way. Today, at last, the American people and our government have confronted the violence and come to the defense of the innocent child. (Applause.)

    Green Bay Press-Gazette, November 2003

In the 1990s, Congress twice passed a bill prohibiting partial-birth abortions, and both times it was vetoed by President Clinton. In 2003, Congress passed the bill again, which was quickly signed by President Bush.
Obama has promised to sign the Freedom of Choice Act, which would overturn all state laws restricting all abortions.

I think we have to wait and see how liberal he will be. He can't govern too far to the left if he wants to win a second term so I see his principles being compromised. Now I know he won't govern so that the far right is happy but then again they aren't happy with their own kind which is evident in the acronym RINO.

    I Don't, and NEVER Will...

I have never voted for a candidate that had any portion of a platform that would be against my beliefs. If I support someone, I believe I am asking them to represent my views and theirs in governing. There are always several deal breakers, i.e., abortion, homosexuality, the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman, the ability to say when they were wrong. I would prefer that they profess Jesus, and I can honestly tell you, that there have been more presidential tickets that I have passed on, while I voted on the local bonds, etc.

That's me, and I'm sticking with it...

Global perception of Obama has been overwhelmingly positive because he cow-tows to the philosophies and ideas espoused by Asian and Latin American Communists, European Socialists, and Middle Eastern Islamofascists/Terrorists. He went on his grand world tour and made speeches about how "wrong" America is and how he would like to bring her back into what is "right" in their eyes (depending on which group he was addressing). Of course the world loves him. Now we will all get to see what he is really like once he starts acting according to his own agenda. Likewise, African nations are thrilled with him because they view him as "one of them" and they, thinking in accord with the traditional African value system, expect him to now help them with huge American handouts.

Now we are all in danger of becoming slaves of a socialist government or worse.

I guess if you convince yourself that everyone except for conservative Americans is a socialist, communist or terrorist and that socialist somehow is an evil thing, then you will succeed in alienating yourself from everyone else. I think that was the path Bush and the Republicans were leading America down and they did very well at it.

No one is trying to convince anyone of such things. However, if you watch BHO's speeches and listen to what he said while conducting his pre-election world tour you will see him cow-towing to the groups I mentioned.

We conservative Americans are simply trying to hold on to the conservativism of the Reagan era. You know when Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Brian Mulroney, Helmut Kohl, and Robert James Lee Hawke showed world that liberalism simply doesn't work. Winston Churchill had done much the same thing in the UK 40 years before. However, it seems that our European brothers have short memories when it comes to socialism.

I know there are like minded conservatives in the UK, Germany, Canada, and Australia today. They just happen to be in smaller numbers than we are here in the US.

It is evil to make attempts to undermine our constitution so that socialism can exist in this country. If other countries want socialism good for them. But when they get snooty nosed because we do not want it here then to bad. as far as I am concerned the attitude is coming from those who want the US to be more like them. If you all do not like capitalism then stay on your side of the pond. By the way, "everyone else" in the world do not hold to socialism nor does "everyone else" want to play the victim and claims alienation. We are not going to compromise our values and constitution because the few "everyone else" doesn't like it.
