Rather than assigning homework - why don't you give us the relevant portion?

I listended to the first three minutes and they didn't mention Harry Reid.

How far into the video do we have to listen before we know "why Harry Reid said what he said."?

I'm not going to listen to pointless prattle for who knows how long just to find out what your point is.

Why don't you quit wasting our time and just put it out there?

Then he can distance himself when it doesn't work out like he wanted.

    I KNEW IT !!!!

I knew from past experience that listening to Crabby's link would be a waste of time - but I went ahead and did it anyway.

    And I was right !!!

Seven minutes and twenty seconds - I listened to the whole thing and it does not tell us why Reid said that Obama was "light skinned" or why Reid said that Obama only talked with a "Negro accent" when he wanted to.

The video clip does not say a word about it !!!

WHAT IS YOUR POINT, CRABBY ??!!??

I figured the authors explanation would be too subtle for some to catch. Oh well ......................

Listen again. The explanation must be put in context of why Reid had Obama come to see him.

Why did Reid want to see Obama? There is the context and gives quite a different meaning to the quote. Remember this is the authors speaking.

Could Reid have chosen his words more carefully. Sure he could have, especially in our hyper-sensitive society.

Wow, not only is someone a Bush blamer but he is patronizing as well. Sorry, that we aren't smart enough to read between the lines to find out why Harry Reid really isn't an idiot.

I have not made a judgement on Reid, other than to say he could have chosen his words more carefully. Also I was not defending or attacking him with the post. I simply thought it should be heard from the two authors of the book.

However, the media, the Democrats and the Republicians have, as far as I have seen or read, never put the quote in context. The authors do so. Context changes intent and meaning.

For instance the statement, "The man hit the woman with both hands." That statement standing alone with no context gives a very negative impression. However a different impression is given if the context is he hit the woman with both hands and, thus saved her from being killed by an oncoming car.

This is why it is very important to give quotes from scripture in context. You can prove anything if you take selective quotes out of context. The same is true with news events.

    So please, enlighten us.

Why did Harry Reid say that Obama was "light skinned" and spoke with a "Negro accent when he wanted to"?

    That is not the topic.

The topic is "Why Harry Reid said what he said".

So why did he say it?

Listen again and put it in context. What is the context of Reid asking Obama to visit. How does this influence the meaning of the statement? Was Reid's view of Obama running for president favorable or unfavoralbe?

To me it moves the statement from a very negative racist remark ... which would be totally stupid to a statement giving one reason why he felt Obama could be elected. As I have said his choice of words were not well founded in our sensitive society. Any such comment, regardless of who it is will be attacked by the opposition party ... and not explained well by the media.

So why did Reid say the Obama spoke with a "Negro accent"?

You started this thread - so why don't you address the topic?

The topic is not "why did Harry Reid meet with Obama"?

The topic is "why Harry Reid said what he said".

SO WHY DID HE SAY IT?

I give up. Are you so very obtuse that you cannot understand that context gives meaning? If so there is no way I can make you see it. Or do you just like to pretend?

You started the thread - not me.

You claim to know why Reid said what he said.

    Apparently you can read minds.

    I can not.

Why did Reid say what he said?

Go back and read my previous post, #12. I answered the question there. If you cannot understand my reply, that is your problem.

    So then, after all that...

You are saying that Reid said that Obama has "light skin" because he thought that was a reason Obama could be elected?

Reid said that Obama talks with a "Negro accent" because he thought that was a reason Obama could be elected?

So in your mind, Harry Reid thinks that having "light skin" and speaking with a "Negro accent" are things that make a person electable to the office of President of the United States?

Or are you saying that having light skin and only speaking with a Negro accent only when one chooses makes a Black acceptable to Harry Reid?

Would Harry Reid have thought that Obama was not acceptable if his skin were darker?

Would Harry Reid have thought that Obama was not acceptable if he spoke with a Negro accent all the time?

You certainly are making Harry Reid sound more and more like a racist !!

So Harry Reid thinks that Obama is a "good Negro"?

Don't listen to the media, listen to time.com!

That the Scriptures overtly condemn your politics and politicians escapes you at every turn, and you're going to lecture us on subtlety?

    You're grasping at straws.

It is what it is . A factual statement with racial overtones that liberals won't tolerate from anyone. Anyone at all.

    'cept another liberal. Hypocrites.

You all are just too obtuse to catch the subtle undertones of CTB brilliance... :tonofbricks:

He doesn't want us to listen to the Dems or Rep or the media. He wants us to listen to him!
