Has anyone here heard how the GARBC conference went this year?
I was not there but talked to a friend who was. It sounded as though there was a significant controversy over whether to completely dismantle the remaining vestiges of the old approval system for colleges and seminaries or keep it alive but drop most of whatever standards for association remain. I'm not sure how things turned out, however. Take this with a grain of salt. My second-hand info could be off.
I just talked to a pastor friend who attended. Apparently the "ministry partnership" plan has been completely dissolved.
Do we have any members of GARBC on the BB?
I served in a GARB church in Iowa for 8 1/2 years before coming back to Maine this past November. My current church is independant/unaffiliated. My wife and I also graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College, which had been a GARBC approved school when they still had such things...
The GARBC has many churches here. They are fairly conservative KJV, no CCM, I go there for a revival they have once a year they are to much like the IFB for me.
My son (GrifDog) is an ordained GARBC minister. But he just left his church to become General Manager of Purpose Driven Youth Ministries out of Saddleback SBC church.
Out of the frying pan into the fire!!
Here are a couple of good articles on the history of the GARBC. I enjoyed reading them and being reminded of the legacy left behind by the men of generations past.
