Gay marriage in a Baptist Church

If you had told me 35 years ago we would have "so called" baptist churches making allowances for this wicked lifestyle, I would have laughed at you. Well, I'm not laughing now.

This is certainly a sign of the times in which we live!

 

In Canada, ministers are virtually "civil" servants in regards to marriage. In fear, of being forced to perform "gay" marriages, a large group of evangelical ministers petitioned government to change the Act to allow marriages and "gay" unions, and that no minister be forced to perform any marriage or union not of his choosing. That got passed in government and we are left to perform weddings of our choosing.

In our modern society, gay unions, were inevitable. Our job is to protect our rights and teach the correct form of such marriages.

What gays want is the legal right to be a partner so that they are not shut out when the partner becomes critically ill or dies. They also want the financial and taxation benefits in Canada, including the right to raise children.

Hello Jim,

Canada is different from the USA. Baptist there seem very strong in their convictions, while in Canada it seems lax. This does not apply to all, but overall it seems this way.

My primary concern is with Gay unions wanting to raise children.

 

The issue of gay unions shouldn't be a concern in Canada any more than the US. If Baptist churches in Canada don't want to conduct same gender marriage ceremonies, then don't do it. Problem solved.
