The head of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, has approved a new law, providing monetary grants to the families of suicide bombers.

Abbas gave his approval just six days ago, a day before a suicide bomber struck the HaSharon Mall in Netanya, killing five Israelis and wounding scores of others.

The legislation refers to the suicide terrorists as shahids (martyrs), a term generally applied to a person who dies in an operation fighting against Israel.

Under the new law, the terrorist’s family will be paid a base sum of $250 per month. The law takes into account extended family arrangements commonplace in Arab societies. The families of married terrorists are entitled to an additional $50 per month, and $15 are added for each child, $25 for each parent, and $15 for each brother who lived with the terrorist prior to his death.....

....Both Israel and the United States have taken legal action in recent years to shut down organizations that distribute money to the families of terrorists, especially suicide bombers.

The budget of the Palestinian Authority is largely subsidized by grants from European nations and the United States.....

Not saying that this story is untrue, but I have been unable to find it in a generally accepted, reliable news source.

Remember, lots of stuff posted on the Internet is not reliable.

I hope you find proof against it.

BTW, the smiley in my OP is a mistake, I didn't mean it.

Well, so far I haven't been unable to prove that the story is true. So I guess that is proof against it.

I've looked at the sources, and not have not seen this disproved on any blogs. I have no reason to say it isn't true. They actually quote the PA Mewspaper the story comes from in the O/P

Sorry, but I'm talking about seeing it in a reliable news source, such as the Associated Press, Fox News, CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, Washington Post, Washington Times, etc. If you search on Google or Yahoo! you see a few references to it but nothing on a site that a prudent person would stake his/her reputation on.

From what I find out about that PA newspaper it is a quite extremist newspaper. It would be like quoting from a pro-fascist or pro-communist newspaper in this country - not a publication that prudent people would rely on.

That is not to say that 100% of everything that such a publication puts out is false, but I sure wouldn't rely on it.

I don't mind saying, that I do find Israel National News the OP link to be credible.

I have yet to find a credible source that says that the story is true. Therefore, at this point in time, I do not believe it.

Here's a pretty good website to use in order to avoid posting less than credible stories:

    www.ap.org

I believe the story, period. Just because the AP wire ain't covering it.

Perhaps the problem is you just can't believe the Gaza pullout would have any issues at all, the PA is dishonest, or we are just making mountains out of molehills.

You haven't proved this false, the article quotes sources, and I wouldn't put this past them.

I'll keep linking to these articles, Ken.

Go ahead. Maybe it is true. Just keep in mind:

    Exodus 20:16 (ESV)
"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

I would think as Christians we would hold ourselves to a higher standard than the world when spreading stories around the Internet.

Whatever Ken, you can call me a liar without proof, apparently.

What part of "maybe it is true" did you not understand?

Looks true, to me. Prove it false, or stop with the self-piety.

The onus is on you to stop being so defensive and prove your story is true.

Using your reasoning you could come on this board and accuse a fellow poster of a heinous act and you would then tell them to prove that your charge is false.
