So the leader of the CIA is having an affair. Is our intelligence this bad that the President or the CIA doesn't know that the leader of the CIA is having an affair? I got to think that this was no doubt going on for a while.

And I keep hearing how this is such a great loss to the country and how great and dedicated a leader he was.

I even heard one news person ask if he HAD to resign over this?

These are the sorts of people leading the country.

Why is no one really talking about how this great man broke trust with his wife and family?

The General was put in charge of the CIA to control the "good old boys" and good old boys overthrew the coup.

Business Insider reports that Stevens may have been linked with Syrian terrorists:

There’s growing evidence that U.S. agents—particularly murdered ambassador Chris Stevens—were at least aware of heavy weapons moving from Libya to jihadist Syrian rebels.

In March 2011 Stevens became the official U.S. liaison to the al-Qaeda-linked Libyan opposition, working directly with Abdelhakim Belhadj of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group—a group that has now disbanded, with some fighters reportedly participating in the attack that took Stevens’ life.

In November 2011 The Telegraph reported that Belhadj, acting as head of the Tripoli Military Council, “met with Free Syrian Army [FSA] leaders in Istanbul and on the border with Turkey” in an effort by the new Libyan government to provide money and weapons to the growing insurgency in Syria.

Last month The Times of London reported that a Libyan ship “carrying the largest consignment of weapons for Syria … has docked in Turkey.” The shipment reportedly weighed 400 tons and included SA-7 surface-to-air anti-craft missiles and rocket-propelled grenades.

Reuters reports that Syrian rebels have been using those heavy weapons to shoot down Syrian helicopters and fighter jets.

Every liberal should be rushing to Petraeus' defense, considering the defense they mounted for the Commander in Chief in the 90's.

poncho, I get it (have gotten it for awhile). The last "meeting" Stevens had was with the Ambassador from Turkey.

Stevens may have been considered "disposable" by the administration and Petraeus following "orders?"

It's all so dark and evil.

To answer the OP: Nobody cares, Zaac. Nobody cares. Caring about the goings on of immorality (if there was ever any caring), ceased when the President Bill Clinton had his sexual escapades known all over the world and the Senate refused to remove the impeached president from office.

Could there have been a compromise of intelligence? Yes in both cases. Pillow talk. Powerful men tend to boast.

Man I'm sorry I took it for granted that everyone that has been on a computer more than once already knew that when a word appeared blue and was underlined it meant it was linked to a website or story.

This is ----> CONTINUE . . . <---- a link. Hover your cursor (little hand with a finger that looks like it's pointing at something) over the blue colored word and depress the left button on your mouse (little plastic humpy thing under your hand) once and viola your web browser (screen you are looking at) should open to another web page almost as if by magic. Isn't technology wonderful?

My apologies if I caused you any confusion. :)

The CIA controls the Army or the Army controls the CIA. Any pragmatic difference?

It’s absurd to think the FBI just found out about CIA Director Petraeus’ affair with Paula Broadwell, his biographer. The timing is too convenient.

The FBI knew about the affair some time ago and, under strict orders, kept their mouths shut until just after Election Day. If they hadn’t, the scandal would have blown up during Obama’s campaign run.

During the period the FBI knew about Petraeus’ affair, they also knew he was completely vulnerable to blackmail. In FBI and CIA circles, to have done nothing about it is considered treasonous. Putting a gag on these FBI people had to been done by the White House.

The latest word is that Petraeus will not testify before Congress about what really happened in Benghazi. He “may be called” on the carpet at a future time, which could mean never.

His absence will help conceal details of the Chris Stevens murder and the build-up of US-sponsored terrorists in the Benghazi sector of Libya.

In fact, Petraeus’ initial statements to Congress, behind closed doors on September 14, led legislators to believe that absurd film trailer was the cause of the “uprising” at the house where Stevens was attacked and killed. Was the General’s ridiculous declaration made under orders from the White House, who had the blackmail goods on him?

Then, finally, on October 26th, Petraeus, perhaps fed up at how he was being used by the White House to provide cover for the president, stated: “No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need [in Bengazi]. Claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate.”

In this whole scenario, we would be looking at a potential case of double blackmail. First by the White House, who knew of the affair sometime ago, and second, by whoever might have wrung CIA and military secrets out of Petraeus because they knew about his affair with Broadwell.

What does that make Paula Broadwell. In intelligence parlance, she would be a classic “honey trap.”

By circumstance, by accident, or on purpose?

On this particular issue, there is something very wrong. Pieces of the puzzle are falling together in a manner we do not yet understand. The incident in Libya, the Obama Administration coverup, this latest incident with General Petraeus are all interconnected in a way that is not yet fully understood, but it sure has the makings of a very sordid situation. This whole thing brings out the worst in our country, despite my post in the other thread about being the greatest nation on earth.

It seems the most seemingly insignificant detail sometimes unravels everything. In this case, it might end up being a series of emails on social media by spurned partners. If one recalls Watergate, it all started with political operatives getting caught by the city police.

One thought that has crossed my mind as of late, is the phrase "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." We look at a man like General Petraeus or some of the Congress members as of late, and President Clinton, in relation to fidelity in marriage. It does not have to be that, it can be money or political power. The point I wonder about is that we sit here, in average America, with average salaries, how would we act if all the sudden we were given such power and money. Would we stay a morally pure as we are now? Is it really fair to criticize without having ever been in their shoes?

In this country, it is not the act of adultry that gets these folks into trouble. It is the lying, using tax dollars to fund the sin, or in this case, the compromise of classified material.

We will never know what the effect would have been on the election if the full story had come out before November 6th.

The one question that has crossed my mind as of late, is will we be any wiser when we find out there are two realities? There's the government and mass media's manufactured reality and then there's the well documented reality.

I have my doubts whether we'll be any wiser after learning the documented reality because we've had a multitude of well documented realities put in front of us before but we always seem to prefer the manufactured one.
