Murph, if you were President, how could you be silent while babies are killed at the rate of 3500 per day? Would you push massive increases on spending (above and beyond what is supposedly used to fitht terrorism)? Would you earn the praise of the "Log Cabin Republicans" by unprecedented appointments of gay activists to important posts? Would you greatly accelerate the federal takeover of our children's education?

It reminds me of dropping your car off for a tuneup and going back to find the engine blown and the interior gutted, and the garage owner says of the mechanic "hey, he's not perfect, but he's a good man, cut him a break.

As to Bush being a liberal, how could you possibly draw any other conclusion in light of his policies? Clinton was a liberal with the same policies.

As to opposition to his nominations, it usually I think boils down to political power...each party wants "their" guy in. And, liberals often mistakenly identify anything Republican as conservative just as do conservatives.

Jim, you'll find it's much easier to eat an elephant one bite at a time. Just because someone isn't working on an issue as fast as you like doesn't mean that they're not working on an issue. I think your views on what constitues a conservative/liberal are a bit extremist.

Extremist or no, you're entitled to your views. But that doesn't make the rest of us wrong. When we play the role of "if Bush/Gore/fill-in-the-blank is really a Christian, then he should..." we play the part of judgement of salvation, a role that is biblically left to God alone.

I happen to think Murph's views are right on target on this one.

No. If there is a brain among anti-abortion leaders, they will work to nullify Roe v Wade by future decisions rather than overturning it.

If I were "king for a day", I would direct our forces to angle in on the definition of "life" with respect to constitutional rights, definition of privacy as it pertains to elective medical treatments, and the rights of other families members to know their relatives.

If a woman can sue McD's for spilling hot coffee on herself, why can't a grandmother sue an abortion doctor for damages related to not having a relationship with a naturally conceived grandchild? The judiciary makes more difference right now than the elected officials... shouldn't, but they do.

So you're saying the country was in pretty good health BEFORE Bush became president?

I hope you're simply being excessively hyperbolic.

    Siegfried,
The economy was in good shape before George W Bush stole the election, I mean was elected president.

I suppose that no one will agree with me, but the economy was fine before and it is fine now. The problem is that it's slow. There are always going to be slow periods. It's an effect of growth. You know, highs and lows.

But guaranteed, the party in office always takes credit for a strong economy, while blaming the other party for a weak economy.

And Bush's election was totally legit and constitutional. I'd be saying the same thing if a democrat got voted in the same way.

    So, what good is he?

Interesting idea. Do you know of any attempts so far?

My friend, we probably agree on a lot of stuff regarding our faith, we just haven't discussed those yet.

Your comments are always appreciated, even when we disagree. How else can we learn? ;)
