The GOP has become like the Honey Badger. It takes what it wants and it does whatever it wants. The rule of law that they pretend to be so fond of doesn't exist except when it's good to throw in the face of the other side.

IMO, McConnell or someone needs to take the lead with some damage control and do something to get them all 'singing from the same songbook' instead of letting stupid stuff like this get out:

McCain, Rand Paul roll out new excuses for sabotage letter

"....this appears to be the third excuse Republicans have come up with for the letter intended to derail American foreign policy. The first rationale was that the 47 GOP senators were kidding, and this was all an attempt at being “cheeky.” The second was that Republicans tried to undermine international nuclear talks, but this is all President Obama’s fault.

And here’s John McCain rolling out the option behind Door #3: Republicans were concerned about snow, so they rushed.

Hmmm... wonder why it's ok with you for Germany to meddle in our negotiations and not OK for the US senate.?

It's a good thing to make the negotiations "more difficult". It shouldn't be easy for Obama to sell out the US to a country that has no intention of honoring any agreement. No matter what it is.

    It didn't go far enough.

What republicans really need to do is send a delegation to meet with the Iranians to "'help" Obama's "negotiations".

    That's what democrats do.

This is howling at the moon, you don't know what you're talking about. Go do some homework on P5+1 before spewing your usual obnoxious garbage.

Talks with Iran has been an INTERNATIONAL endeavor for over a decade now, and the U.S. has just defecated on the whole process.

Could be that he thinks that Evangelist6589 penned it?

Now Obummer plans to go to the UN with whatever sell-out he makes to Iran and P on the US Senate. I said it about Obummer in 2007/8 and Obummer said it in 2007/8. He wants to fundamentally change the United States; I believe into a Marxist state, preferably a weak one.

It seems the Obama lovers on this BB has increased dramatically since the letter! Strange.

Lots of Republicans are angry that these senators gave the Democrats such a wonderful campaign gift.

Germany isn't meddling in the negotiations. They are a part of them with along with other countries not named the United States of America. This may surprise you, but there are other countries in this world and some of them have a vested interest in the Iran nuclear situation.

We are embarrassing ourselves on a world stage now with this garbage.

I'd love to hear your solution to all this since this whole process has beens such a colossal failure. (even though you won't come out and say why) You seem so well read on this situation.

I know it's Crabby and it's hard to take stuff he posts seriously as a source because he has an axe to grind but is it so hard to believe this is irritating some level headed Republicans.

Speaking for myself, these stunts are seriously testing my patience with this party. I can just picture the other nations involved saying to us "do you guys need a minute to get on the same page or what."

Germany has a vested interest in their trading partner and that is why they are the "+1" in the equation. Siemens is in charge of the centrifuges that are used to enrich uranium. The Germans have dozens of companies with a branch in Iran and there's thousands of trade representatives over there at any given moment.

Germany has been wanting to lift these sanctions off Iran because it is causing them to lose jobs and $$$.

Bingo. Along with Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States — the five permanent members of the UN Security Council.

Doesn't matter how much substance there is to it, it's the perception, public opinion, that's going to be spun from this colossal blunder.

Did you even notice "If it gains traction"? Doesn't matter whether it's true or not, their political opponents are going to have a heyday with this.

Iraq debacle deja vu; but that probably escapes you also. You probably think the Iraq War was a resounding success and all the neocon players that brought it about are hero's.

I agree that it was a bad idea. But I also agree with Carpro's point about Obama constantly skirting congress.

Seems to me a president once went around congress to sell about 1500 missiles to Iran, then again went around congress when he used the money to de-stabilize Nicaragua. The democrats are still fuming about that one.

Yea, so far there's been three lame excuses they've given for signing the letter:

    It was a joke

    It was Obama's fault

It was getting ready to snow
