No one addressed the command by God for man to "Get yourselves a new heart" and to repent. This shows a responsibility on man's part.

What does God mean in Ezekiel 18:31 when He says, "Get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit" and "therefore turn and live."

That is a clear cut call for action for man from God.

And who is saying that man does not have a responsibility?

I think perhaps you are confusing our Calvinism (for want of a better word) with someone's caricature of Calvinism. This is why I don't bother getting involved here. With all due respect, In, there is no indication that you understand our position.

Then why post at all if you are not going to present the correct position?

It's much easier to pretend you have the answer than admit you don't. I do have to give props to Tom Butler though. He normally does get involved in the tough threads and has even left his party line view when he sees an inconsistency. He was even honest in the one I started to admit he didn't know, a commendable position to take. If only all non arms could follow his example from time to time.

Well, Mandy, my point is why go through all this again if it just devolves into argument. Just not going to waste my time. The fact that the OP does not show understanding of the opposing view does not bode well for further involvement.

Let me try again. For the record: I believe in everything in post 25. So what is there to discuss?

And as far as the question of why post at all, it was just to show that In(I forget his handle at the moment) was presenting an argument that had no opponents, at least not from the present company.

    Take care.

What I see happens on both sides of the fence is that incorrect views are imposed on others based on flawed logic ie:

If one believes A then they must also believe B or

If one believes A then they cannot possibly believe B

And this is often done without asking for clarification or reasoning.

OK, fine. This is tiresome. You are being a mind-reader now. You don't know me from Adam's cat and you have all this figured out about what I am thinking.

But I do appreciate the God bless part. Have a good day. I need to keep packing.

Thanks, Earth! We are getting ready for our move to Florida. I have been getting rid of lots of books. You never realize how much stuff you accumulate until you move.

I did not say anything about what you are thinking and I was speaking in general but it was as much about what was said about your post. Not what you posted.

Clarification before jumping to the worst possible conclusions would be helpful.

I'm sorry, Mandy. I shouldn't have written it the way I did. Its just that a lot of threads here tend to shift away from the scriptural discussion of the OP into motivations, intention, innuendos, etc. And it was already starting (but not from you).

Great! Tampa is an hour or so north of Fort Myers (It is also on the Gulf Coast). Vaya con Dios to you too, brother.

    I said this:

Calvinists contend that man cannot believe until he is regenerated, or given a new heart. Calvinists cite Ezekiel 36:26 as a proof text of this idea.

Are you saying that is not an accurate representation of Calvinism?

If it is an accurate representation then why does God say that man should "get yourselves a new heart and spirit", so that they "turn and live." ?

EWF, this verse is not a post-regeneration viewpoint because verse 32 and 33 says, "I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies, therefore turn and live."

Now you are moving the goalpost. I was responding solely to your post #25. Here it is:
That is what I was saying was an inaccurate characterization of Calvinism on your part.

You can't take my response to your statement B (post#25) and add it to your statement A (an earlier post I wasn't even responding to).
