I gave the entire quote. What taxes did Bush lower other than income taxes? To say taxes does not necessarily mean all taxes. To say that is to take a huge liberal interpretation of what Obama said and of what he said during the campaign.

I dont quite make 33,000/yr which is how much I have to make before I owe federal income tax (a family of 3). I am a welder and do make a decent wage, and most of my friends and family are in the same range. In other words, right now we are not paying any taxes, but with the almost 700 billion energy tax increase, we are all going to be taxed.

Obama is not just spreading the wealth, he is spreading the tax burden also.

At least this explains how he intends to increase the budget while "keeping his campaign promise" to lower income taxes for 95% of americans. He is shifting the tax revenues from one place to another, while in reality he is raising taxes, not lowering them.

PL, you are asking that leopards change their spots!

This board, and particularly any questioning of this POTUS, has proved that libs are incapable of ever admitting that their hero is any less than super-hero; perfectly capable of the very feats you mentioned in the quote.

This is why we will never, NEVER get this country back on track by any hint of compromise with the left. They will never argue the real problems - just deflect so as to draw the rest of us off topic so their facade will remain intact to the dumbed/numbed down masses.

And since we now have a society that is so heavily latched onto the government teat, and the "teat" enablers are in power, nothing, repeat, NOTHING, (excepting the mercy of God) will be able to ever get us back on track before we become the liberal's HOLY GRAIL -- Socialist America, just like most of Europe.

Notice there are a few on here who admit to that goal!!!

Hey, I am glad that folks have such unrealistic expectations of Obama. In 3 years when they find out that he cant actually walk on water, they are going to very disgruntled and hopefully this will help get a conservative back into the WH.

I think that it is conservatives with the unrealistic expectations, not us progressives. We will be grateful for whatever we can get as it will be a big improvement over what we got from George W. Bush.

And it didn't mention incomes taxes. I am not saying he didn't mean income taxes. I am pointing out that you said that, not Obama.

I don't know. Who cares? Bush is gone. That is so last year. Get over Bush.

Obama said so many things during the campaign, but he said he would cut taxes on 95% of America (then working Americans, then he said he wouldn't raise them ... etc.). He can't cut taxes on 95% of Americans, or even working Americans, because 95% don't pay taxes. The percentage of tax paying Americans is far less than that.

You are not progressive. You are regressive. You want to go back to the 30s, and Obama is helping that along. The big spending has already been tried. It doesn't work.

George Bush didn't spend $1 trillion in his first month in office. So Obama is not an improvement.

How does all the Republican spending beginning with Reagan compare to the first two months of this administration, dollar wise?

President Clinton did not leave President Bush with an economic/banking crisis unrivaled since the 1930s.

I dont really think it would have mattered who the president was, it still would have happened.

Tell me, what did Clinton do to make the economy good in the 90's and just what did Bush do to ruin it?

And if Bush created this, then why is Europe and Asia in worse economic shape than we are? What did Bush do to them?

I dont think the POTUS has as much power over the world economy as you think.

OK. What Gingrich says about the President is of little consequence unless you support the positions of a man who deserted his wife who was dying of cancer to see another woman.

No. Clinton did leave Bush with a recession. But the economic and banking crisis is not being addressed by this $1 trillion dollars. So if Obama wants to address that, he would probably get more support. But you know as well as I do that Obama is not spending most of this money to address the banking and economic crisis.

And it isn't the worst since the 30s. That has been thoroughly and unquestionably debunked. So let's just stop with that nonsense.

You can support Obama and still tell the truth. It will be hard, and you will have to avoid most issues, but you can do it .

If what Gingrich says is true, it is of tremendous consequence. Stop the personal attacks and deal with substance. You are way too much like Rush Limbaugh.

The Bush administration failed to rein in the excesses that were taking place in Wall Street banks.

Are our banks ran by the government? Yikes! no wonder they failed!!!!

I didnt know it was Bush's job to rein them in. What should he have done specifically?

It funny, you libs complain that Bush is into the oil business too much, but that he should have gotten into the banking business more??????

I am sorry you think it is off topic. I was comparing Obama's character with Gingrich's lack thererof.

Although Gingrich is a good speaker, and a smart person, I disagree with his assessment of Obama and Obama's plan. Since the 'Republican Party seem to be the Party of complain and do nothing, I find it difficult to take what they say seriously.
