</font>[/QUOTE]Michelle seems to take pleasure in misrepresenting a lot of people, living or dead, including moderators of the forum. I wonder when enough will be enough. Her posting sites of the gnostic didn't prove anything. There are many different varieties of gnostic. Her accusations against W/H by use of David Clouds material was ludicrous. David Cloud has misrepresented people for many years, viciously attacking anyone who doesn't support his viewpoint. Not much of a christ-like approach to his study or his writings. He has made himself, like Michelle, judge and jury of all.

    "If Erasmus was catholic"
    ''
    He was.

"why then did his own Catholic church consider him a heretic?"
    ''
They didn't, they just didn't like some of his writings.

" Even until this very day? "
    ''
    Not true.
    --------------------------------------------------

Just saying so, doesn't make it so. Erasmus was and is considered a heretic by the Roman Catholic church.

"Traditional Catholicism uttered a cry from the depths of its noisome pools (to use Erasmus's figure). Franciscans and Dominicans, priests and bishops, not daring to attack the educated and well-born, went among the ignorant populace, and endeavored by their tales and clamours to stir up susceptible women and credulous men. 'Here are horrible heresies,' they exclaimed, 'here are frightful antichrists! If this book be tolerated it will be the death of the papacy!' 'We must drive this man from the university,' said one. 'We must turn him out of the church,' added another. 'The public places re-echoed with their howlings,' said Erasmus. The firebands tossed by their furious hands were raising fires in every quarter; and the flames kindled in a few obscure convents threatened to spread over the whole country. .....

The priests saw the danger, and by a skillful maneuver, instead of finding fault with the Greek Testament, attacked the translation and the translator. 'He has corrected the Vulgate,' they said, 'and puts himself in the place of Saint Jerome. He sets aside a work authorized by the consent of ages and inspired by the Holy Ghost. What audacity!' and then, turning over the pages, they pointed out the most odious passages: 'Look here! This book calls upon men to repent, instead of requiring them, as the Vulgate does, to do penance! (Matt. 9:17). The priests thundered against him from their pulpits: 'This man has committed the unpardonable sin,' they asserted, 'for he maintains that there is nothing in common between the Holy Ghost and the monks -- that they are logs rather than men!'...'He's a heretic, an heresiarch, a forger! He's a goose. ...He's a very antichrist! (J.H. Merle D'Aubingne, History of the Reformation of the Sixteenth Century, New York: Hurst & Company, 1835, Vol.5, pp.153-54)Myths about the Modern Bible Versions, David Cloud,pg.57-58))

    Also,

"The council of Trent (1545-1564) branded Erasmus a heretic and prohibited his works. In 1559, Pope Paul IV placed Erasmus on the first class of forbidden authors, which was composed of authors whose works were completely condemned. "All his commentaries, notes, criticisims, colloquies, epistles, translations, books, and writings, even if they contain absolutely nothing against religion or about religion" (Smith, p.422) Myths about the Modern Bible Versions, David Cloud, p.59))

    AVL,

You should not have brought that up. You are not equipped to deal with the hidden meaning and implication of that number. Neither am I really, so I better leave it alone.

We can't understand, because we don't understand...oooooh

He may not have been personally involved in the day to day translation, but he was responsible for much of the persecution and death many faced because they didn't accept his commissioned version of the Bible. So, what does that tell us? Sort of like the crusades, eh? Yes. Why? Because he FORCED the version upon people. The Anglican church forced the version on people. So, this is God's doing? Don't think so.

    --------------------------------------------------

And to this, I suggest you go and read the preface to the KJB by the translators. They explain quite clearly the reasons why they were doing a translation.

See, Michelle, even if we were to provide evidence, which you NEVER produce, you would summarily dismiss it. Doesn't that show you what a cultic mindset you've gotten yourself in to?

    --------------------------------------------------

And all I have seen from many of you, is your own biased opinions, with nothing to support it, nor scriptures to back it up. I have provided you all with both.

Do you even have any idea what a cult is?

I think by your above statement you do not even understand what a cult is.

    Ed,

Here is another KJVO double standard. It is perfectly legitimate to see the KJV translators as authoritative when it supports the KJVO position, but not when they do not.

In the same preface the KJV translators do not claim for themselves and their version what the KJVOist claim.

I've read the preface many times. I see you've dodged the questions again. Typical. When there is no proof, it becomes eerily quiet!
