The sad part in all this, is that both parties will have the same agenda in the coming years, provided the Lord hasn't come before then.

The Reps. will see how the Dems. are getting the vast maority of the gay vote, and know that if they don't change their platform to suit the gays, they will lose. In the next ten years or so, you can take all of capital hill, put them in a jug, shake'em up, pour'em out, and not tell them apart.

That's my point, you stated it well.

No one politician is taking a stand for truth no matter the cost, and to call these who don't "true Christians" is deceiving ones self. They're more interested in the polls and opinions of the crowds.

We have too many preachers who accept this, compromise, and in so doing teach others that such are great, true Christian men who won't deny themselves and won't pay a price for standing for truth.

Please do not take this as me being judgemental, but, I am hard pressed to find anyone on capital hill as being a true "blood bought" christian. We, as christian, have to live in the world, but we can't take part in the worldly things. There is no sin in going to New Orleans or Las Vegas(so I detest in how that city relishes in the name "sin city"), but if you partake of their "cultures", that a whole different story. Same way with capital hill. It is full of the same cultures that are in N.O. and L.V. Look at all the scandals that have went on, even back to the 60's with all that is being proved about JFK. I am a big Bill Clinton fan, and thought he did a wonderful job in running the country, but there were things he did that I don't agree with. But, he will answer to his maker for them, and not me.

Too many capital hill "christians" are politicians first, and "christain" second. :tear:

What I am about to say, is from my heart:

I truly want to vote for Obama this next year, but the Democrat platform(shoot I am a proudly registered Democrat myself) has went off the deepend with the gay rights(we don't have a right to persecute them, but to marry and adopt children is a NO NO in my book  ), being pro-choice(why not just wait until the baby is born and kill it?), etc. I am more in line with the now deceased Sen. Robert Byrd, a conserative Democrat. Where did we stray, and jump, not fall, off the deep end?? I want to vote for Obama, but I just don't think I can pull the trigger when I step up to the firing line.

Agree! He shows the golden rule written on his heart!:

“The notion of a rigid separation between church and state has no basis in either the text of the Constitution or the writings of our Founding Fathers. On the contrary, our Founders’ political views were strongly informed by their religious beliefs.” — Ron Paul

“Through perverse court decisions and years of cultural indoctrination, the elitist, secular Left has managed to convince many in our nation that religion must be driven from public view. The justification is always that someone, somewhere, might possibly be offended or feel uncomfortable living in the midst of a largely Christian society, so all must yield to the fragile sensibilities of the few. The ultimate goal of the anti-religious elites is to transform America into a completely secular nation, a nation that is legally and culturally biased against Christianity.” — Ron Paul

“There is only one kind of freedom and that's individual liberty. Our lives come from our creator and our liberty comes from our creator. It has nothing to do with government granting it.”- Ron Paul

Setting a good example is a far better way to spread ideals than through force of arms.”- Ron Paul

“Having federal officials, whether judges, bureaucrats, or congressmen, impose a new definition of marriage on the people is an act of social engineering profoundly hostile to liberty.”- Ron Paul

The moral and constitutional obligations of our representatives in Washington are to protect our liberty, not coddle the world, precipitating no-win wars, while bringing bankruptcy and economic turmoil to our people.”- Ron Paul

“When the federal government spends more each year than it collects in tax revenues, it has three choices: It can raise taxes, print money, or borrow money. While these actions may benefit politicians, all three options are bad for average Americans.”- Ron Paul

Deficits mean future tax increases, pure and simple. Deficit spending should be viewed as a tax on future generations, and politicians who create deficits should be exposed as tax hikers.”- Ron Paul

“I will always vote what I have promised, and always vote the Constitution, as well as I will not vote for one single penny that isn't paid for, because debt is the monster, debt is what's going to eat us up and that is why our economy is on the brink.”- Ron Paul

“In time it will become clear to everyone that support for the policies of pre-emptive war and interventionist nation-building will have much greater significance than the removal of Saddam Hussein itself.”- Ron Paul

Ron Paul impresses me as one who is CONSISTENT in his principles:

The principled consistency of Ron Paul

    Excerpts:

Ron Paul is a consistent man. He's been preaching the same economic gospel for two generations, a gospel based on the teachings of economists Friedrich Hayek and Ludwig von Mises, leavened by the objectivism of Ayn Rand. He's been convinced for decades of the dangers of fiat money (money backed only by confidence in the government that creates it), the supreme importance of the individual, the primacy of personal liberty as a political principle, and a laissez faire approach to the economy.”

    *

“What's important about Paul is that his ideas are ideologically consistent. They spring from a set of principles, and he's not afraid to let his ideas go where his principles take them.

Ron Paul has the courage of his convictions
    .”

    *

…..Republicans like to talk about individual liberty, but they don't trust you to do the "right" thing with it any more than Democrats do.

The difference between Republicans and Democrats lies in which aspects of your life they want to control. They don't disagree that you need to be controlled.

Paul does. It isn't that he thinks we should have no laws - he favors a minimal government, not zero government - but rather that he thinks your sphere of personal autonomy should be as large as it can be without damaging the autonomy of others. What control there must be should be as local as possible…..”

    *

“….Republicans and Democrats are rarely pure on issues of life, liberty, defense and foreign policy. There are ideological influences on their positions, but both are swayed as much by the possible as by the ideal. Perhaps we ought not interfere in Libya, but we can, we can do it successfully, and we can enhance our power and prestige in the world by doing it, so why not do it?

Paul's response would be, "because it's wrong." He doesn't make the mistake of confusing "right" and "wrong" with "successful" and "unsuccessful," or "useful" and "not useful." His political and economic views aren't based on utilitarian foundations, but on the idea that some things are right, others are wrong.”

    *

Ron Paul's ideological consistency is remarkable, almost unheard of in modern politics. It isn't the hobgoblin consistency of small minds, but the intellectual consistency of an honest mind. If you don't share his principles, you won't agree with his conclusions, but the consistency he displays is still remarkable.

Pragmatism is also a moral value, in my opinion, and Paul's idealism is certainly terrifying to political pragmatists. A state might well do better with Machiavelli at its helm than Mother Theresa, and idealists are as able to inflict mass suffering on the world as pragmatists, just with better conscience. In a world of competing values, though, Paul's ideals of minimal intrusion on individual decisions are far more compelling and justifiable than many competing values.”

Which is why I reject this idea of any being a "true Christian" who is a politician. Any person believing them needs to remember first they are a politician and will SAY anything.

There won't be any politician that will stand up for all that is right via Biblical standards, and refuse to compromise no matter what. They'll simply watch what they say, look at the polls, adjust what they "believe" by what the polls say, and what the status quo of the nation is.

    You said,

"Go for the sounding smart instead of using common manhood, Christian principles, and sense? You're being desensitized and are compromising Biblical truth for the sake of following a politician. Those who continue to follow this compromising view are also guilty themselves. It reminds me of the Corinthians who looked at the man in adultery as practicing "liberty," but were puffed up in their fleshly minds and were compromising truth. How smart and suave they must have felt. They were on the "cutting edge," or so they thought. "

Stating that I am compromising and "sounding smart instead of using common manhood, Christian principles, and sense?" etc, is an attack.

As well, citing the theological debate through the years is not setting a lower standard, it is showing distinctions that exist. I make a clear statement of my belief, but that there are philosophical and theological discussions on this where we as Christians can give deference to fellow Christian brothers.

If you don't believe that the government should knock down doors, then just in what way, exactly, is Ron Paul a "pro-sodomite"? He has voted against EVERY SINGLE bill which has attempted to grant federal legal status to "gay marriage." He voted for, and supported, the Defense of Marriage act. He has stated that he believes homosexuality is a mental disease. That doesn't sound like a "pro-sodomite" guy to me...

The only thing which he has done, is say that the federal government should stay out of the states business, and that the government should get out of the marriage business altogether, because it is a religious issue. That is it. He understands that when the Federal Government is allowed to define marriage, sinful people will eventually define it wrongly. I, as a Texan social conservative, do not want New Yorkers and Californians being able to define marriage for my state. I am utterly shocked that YOU would want that. Are YOU pro-sodomy?

As far as the personal stuff, you are wrong on all counts. I am not at all angry. I am not "venting." I am sad. Sad that Christians continually eat their own; we have a consistent guy, who has NEVER flip flopped on his views, who could really change things for the better; a guy that is forcefully opposed to abortion, who wants to balance the budget, and bring our country back to its founding principles...and instead of supporting him, the Christians actually MAKE STUFF UP about him, and hurt his campaign. It is just unbelievable.

Now, I am done. Back to your misinformation campaign.

I would reccomend you support Terry Randall in your states Democratic primiary

    Two things:
    1. First, I am pro-choice - I beleive if a baby wants to be aborted he alone has the right to request it.

    2. When I am in an abortion discussion, I will finsh up by saying "You know, you have convincied me. I now support abortion up till 30 day after birth" boy, you should see the response I get!

I've already explained this to you. You're not angry? So, in other words, name-calling is just how you roll in general? Correct?

I agree with some of what your politician says, but in all honsesty, he compromises this issue.

That you come out with derogatory statements in your initial remarks is all you and who you are.

Not that I'd expect you to notice how wrong your behavior is and was, and own up to it. Such acknowledgment is reserved for the humble.

As I said, he is compromising. That you came up with absurd and illogical claims with your "knocking down doors" and forcing "morality laws" rant on others is just showing you going on a tirade. Doing such things are labeled Biblically as works of the flesh, and your doing so was totally out of hand and unnecessary.

A strawman and your incensed attitude coupled together is what I witnessed. Back to your campaign of the same.

I urge you to spend some time on Pastor Chuck Baldwin's site.

Second, for you to claim there could be no true Christians in congress is silly.

To my pal curtis on his misinformation campaign

    Get your facts straight.

I never claimed there were no true Christians in congress. You came up with that on your lonesome, and it's false information.

The fact remains that no candidate for President will fully stand for Christian rights across the board, but instead will compromise on issues. All of them will.
