    "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

    Remember that question? I do. I must have had 10 different answers. But somewhere in my heart I knew that I didn't have to have one yet.

    Mom pushed me to make decisions about my life, and I drove her crazy by waiting...I just did what felt right (don't mix that up with doing what feels GOOD). I can't imagine that God had any other call for me than that of an art teacher, which is what I've always been. Everything in my life pointed in this direction---my interests, my hobbies, even my special abilities. I was never into money (good thing, eh?) but I needed security...and this is exactly what I do to this day.

    God sure is good to me.

    Im 25 and I still dont know - God's still playing with the clay - graduated college with diploma and certificates in computers - got certificates in the food and liquor industry - got a few theological pieces of pulp - but a direction all i've gotten from God is "Grow!"

    What is God calling me to be?

    Well.....this is all I know for sure:
    1. He is calling me to be a pastors wife, and 2. He is calling me to sing for Him... Now in what capacity, I am still waiting to find out!

    God will let you know, you just have to wait on Him!

    ~Teresa~

  5. God's call for my life?
    One call is to live for Him. More specifically preaching. God has called us all to do something. Some things are for the whole church ,and other things are for individual people.

    We are all comanded to share the gospel with others. SOme people have diffrent ministries in which they do it, such as a preacher, sunday school teacher, missionary, evangelist...and I guess the list could go on, because there are so many ways to serve the Lord.
    I don't know much about what I should do when I get out of school. I used to think that I'd like to teach choir in a Christian school, or maybe do something with the elderly, but for the last almost 6 months, all I really picture myself is doing, is being a wife/mother. Which makes me kida giggle, cause I don't think anyone would be crazy enough to put up with me for the rest of his life. But "Is anything to hard for the Lord?" I supose I shall wait and see what His plans are.
    I do feel like He has put me in a place where I can serve Him. I try my best to witness at school, even though I've added to my list of "grandkids" {LONG story, and I won't post it here!}
    Right now I just want to learn more, mature, and become everything God would have me to be.

    Excellent post, if your fingers can hold out I would love to hear the story. I remember a quote from one of my highschool teachers "you are quickly becoming what you are going to be" I let the world sidetrack me and I didn't accept Him until I was 28. The funny thing is that I feel I was called to Preach 2 weeks before I was saved, that is a long story. Let God have all of you NOW it will never get easier only tougher, Now is the time.

    Ok, C.S. you've asked for it! SOme people may agree with my stand, and some may not, but please, lets not debate it AGAIN. :eek: I believe in dressing modestly, and two years ago, I started wearing only dresses and skirts. The kids see me on year in pants, and when we come back from Summer, here I am in these long skirts and dresses. That was kinda what started it.
    There is also the fact that even though I'm only 14 i have the appearance of someone in their early twenties, so I got all these jokes about being the substitute teacher. :D
    Well I also carry my Bible to school and read it. I guess some people assume that the Bible is for elderly people or something.
    Also, I have a reputation of not putting up with people taking God's name in vain. If you do around me, I'll quietly ask you not to because I feel that if my Saviour was willing to go to Calvary for me, then I ought to be willing to take a stand for Him. I don't mind jokes, or even foul language in my direction, but I won't tolerate it about my Lord.
    A lot of the things I write for English class usualy incorperate the Lord in them.
    The kids also know I don't go to movie theaters, celebrate halloween, listen to music {unless it's hymns or southern gospel}, go to clubs, don't condone foul language, and basicaly I'm kinda prudish in their eyes. So hence came the names "Grandma Abby", "The substitute", and "Preacher-girl."
    I don't really mind. I just feel burdened for them. I live in the Bible-belt were everyone usualy claims to be saved, but there is no evidence of it. When you get saved there will be a change in your life. I don't won't to be one of those who just goes to church Sunday's and wenesdays, but the rest of the week lives like the world. I can't. The Bible says "To him that knoweth to do good and doeth it it not, to him it is sin."
    I don't really thing it matters what anyone thinks, as long as the Lord is pleased with my life, and I guess maybe I can understand why they see me as such an oddity. I mean most of them have never seen the likes of me. {and I'm sure they hope they never will agian, either!}
    ONe thing particular that happened the other day I just laughed over. One girl took the Lord's name in vain and I said:"Listen, I'm a Christian, and I would rather you not say that around me." and she said:"Well, I'm a Christian too, you need to lossen up a little." and the girl with her said: "Yeah, you might be a Christian but she's a full blood Christian!" I don't know if I was wrong to, but I just died with laughter. Full blooded Christian! Now THAT'S a first!
    Oh well. Whatever God's will for my life is, I'll do it to the best of my ability.
    Well, C.S. you asked for it, so there it is. Hope my epistle didn't tire you too much!
    In Christ, Abby

    Atta girl [IMG] Saved by Grace,

    You keep going, most baptists don't have the stands you seem to. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what you are doing. I am sure God looks from heaven well pleased. The Bible says we are to be a perculiar people, so just remember if you are teased or the like, that it is an honor.

    God be with you, I am sure He has a wonderful plan for your life. ;)
