I confess I'm guilty but what are the rules for going off topic?... Someone will make a comment and not that you meant to railroad the discussion but a comment someone makes causes you to make another comment but in making the reply you are off topic and maybe the one making to comment to another post was also off topic also... So when is one off topic?... Is it when the OP has started another thought that is off topic resulting in the start of another thread?... I know there is chiding and ribbing ( poking fun a brother or sister no malice intended) just because that is the way some of us are... I'm guilty!... Whereas some on here are more of a serious nature and they are not of the chiding and ribbing sort and if you have been on here as long as I have you get to know who's who somewhat... Deliberately going off topic and you can usually tell by the intent of the poster(well I can sometimes is a no no) and a reason to shut down a post which TC did recently as the post got out of hand and I agreed with the action he took... Discussing the Word Of God it is easy in my opinion to go off topic as another train of thought may cross your mind... In some forums not to name any specifically (C/A Forum) oops! its easy to go off topic!... Brother Glen

Thread drift is a hazard of on-line forums. It's not unique to Baptist Board.

I agree but how far does one have to go off topic before a thread is derailed and closed?... Is the leeway at the moderators or other posters complaints discretion not to go too far off topic where you can't come back to the original topic... Brother Glen

Well you brought it up a couple of time now so it's in the game...
We've got a rail line near us.
I love to hear the sound of the locomotives as they rumble down the tracks.

Speaking of New Orleans, how does everyone think the Saints will do this year without their starting goalie? Thumbsup

Silly you, it is the water polo team. They just flood the Astrodome there in New Orleans. Sometimes they even have more fans than spectators show up, especially since that unfortunate drowning incident last year. Biggrin

Only co-ed water polo. IIRC, the sport is divided into men's and women's competitions.

How deep is the water in water polo? I would think the horses couldn't run very fast if it was deeper than, say, two feet deep.

Haven't you heard, there are no more real sexes, so it can't be co-ed.

Now what was the OP about. I think we have made our point. :D

    LOL, yes.

But seriously it is difficult because "going off thread" is a very subjective call.
Some folk are 100 yard dash sprinters others are long distance, cross country runners.

And yes, some see connections where there are none.

Others invent connections where there are none.

Some don't see connections even after they trip over them.

    Anyway its unavoidable.
