was planning on it - but wont be able to know
I don't even know where it is at this year?
Nope. Your are talking about a Star Trek convention, right?
Too far for me to go although I would love to be there. Anyway my Klingon uniform is in the cleaners...lol
Is Ronnie Floyd up for Prez? I'm not so sure about him?
He is and most likely will get it but I will not vote for him.
Who are you rooting for?
I wonder why the church decided that casting lots wasn't good enough, and started leaving things up to a vote of men?
I think the whole political system in the SBC is a spiritual mess, with self appointed preachers running around jockeying for position and praises of men. Then the praisers of men get weak in the knees at the opportunity to vote for their favorite guy they can praise.
A convention man is a fleshly man, IMO.
Or a manly convention is a fleshly convention. You know I have always liked the SBC for their system but in recent years I have been wondering why we do this. It must be an American thing, all political and everything. Is there scriptural support for the way the SBC does church govt?
I am sorry for your error, the SBC does not do church government.
The convention does do church government. They don't govern by a heavy handed approach from the outside. The fleshy masses get together to praise the next one who will influence how the local bodies think, and thereby govern. It's like an infiltration
Affect how everybody thinks, and you have effectively governed them into your mindset and purpose.
Some idiot will hear those two resolutions I railed against last week, and he'll jump on a bandwagon. Then he'll start talking to others at his local church about these new convictions he received at the man praise gathering. And that will ultimately effect the governing of that local church.
SolaSaint asked a fantastic question about the man praise gatherings
Where is the scriptural support?
Uh no they don't. It is an absurd claim.
You guys need to read the SBC constitution.
Now, you can claim "influence" if you wish, but the SBC affiliate churches are like-minded with one another to begin with, otherwise they wouldn't be affiliated with the SBC.
This thread is not about arguing against what ever personal pet complaint you have about the convention. Please start your own thread for SBC bashing.
